// Third Person POV //
"I don't know you but I notice how much Dom cares about you. He's never liked that. He never got too attached to anything in his life but look at him now." The young brunette father sat beside Matthews bedside as he watched the monitor on the opposite side fill with codes, over halfway done. "He's gone and saved us all. If you asked me before all of this if I saw Dominic James Howard doing something even remotely similar to this I'd tell you're crazy and laugh. And do you know why he's doing all of this?"
The room in which the resistance had stormed little over five hours ago was quite but you could faintly hear from time to time suppressed coughing and moans of pain. Most of the dead bodies in the room and hallway were removed or stacked in closets, trying to keep the place as clear as possible. Chris was trying hard not to fall asleep but the pain in his head, his whole body, was making him sleepy and drowsy. He needed to stay awake for Matts sake, to make sure he comes out of this alive. So he started talking.
"He's doing this for you Matt. All of this. I don't know what you've been through but if it was as bad as what I have or close, I think I would want someone just as helpful and caring as Dom," Chris stated, feeling sorrow for the lost souls of his family. His wife laying dead on the railroad tracks. His son and daughter slaughtered on their front lawn. It all came flooding back to him. But then he thought of Tom. The man who's helped him this far, the man who made him live.
Thomas has been there for Chris and he hasn't even thanked him for that, let alone thanked him for being there for him even before the government crumbled. The both of them have been long time friends ever since early college days, taking their separate careers but still staying in touch. It was true friendship; true love. No one could deny that, not even Chris himself.
"I guess what I'm trying to say is that you need to wake up. Wake up for Dominic. He needs you in his life. I think we all need someone like you in our lives, Matt." The tall brunette rested his elbows on the metal table and leaned forward on to his hands, hanging his head low. The sound of the computer giving off a beeping noise irritated Chris as he rested his eyes. Then he looked up, the computer wasn't making noises before. After that he started hearing soft, strained breathing coming from the body laying in front of him.
"Ugh... uh." Matthew slowly stared coming to as Chris stood up quickly, gripping his bandaged head as he did. A smile spread across his face as he saw the eyes of the man below him start fluttering open. Then he saw his mouth open, trying to speak. Chris leaned in closer to hear him. "Dominic."
The computer next to the surgical table now emitted a noise completely different from the first. It was low and sparse, like a heartbeat. But it was slowly dying out as Matthew's once open eyes shut and his mouth hung agape. Chris's smile disappeared as he noticed Matt wasn't breathing anymore, he was dying right in front of him.
