"I hope she likes it; she deserves more but I know she wouldn't accept more. She'd be grateful for anything I'd give her, but I know she wouldn't want me to spend a lot of money on her. We both earn our money, and most of it goes to rent and food with very little left over afterwards. We don't have the expense of a car, but we don't make a lot of money either way. I really do think that she will like what I got her; she gets home near dinnertime today and is expecting me to be at work, so that's part of the surprise. I'd make dinner for her, but I suspect she'd rather make it with me; she's still getting better in the kitchen, but we won't make anything extravagant.
I haven't been this excited in a while, I just hope she likes it."
