"O's asleep, it's just after midnight. There was a serene expression on her face when she came home from the library today and somehow I knew I had made up for some of what I've done. There is still a long way for us to go, to achieve this normalcy that I don't think we'll ever fully have. How can we? After what we've been through, the things we have seen and done... Normalcy isn't in the cards for us, but I will do anything I can to keep us together.
She didn't understand the flowers; of course that traditional custom wasn't one she'd ever seen or heard of. When I explained it to her, I believe I used the words 'when a man likes a woman, he buys her flowers'; she laughed. I haven't heard her laugh in a while, it was enlightening. It made me feel as though I was doing something right again, even if she didn't quite understand what it was I was doing. I don't really know what I am doing. She does little things nodding towards intimacy; her hands always touch me, and when she does it, I can see a look in her eye that suggests she's making sure I'm really there."
