How I Became Savannah Solo Part 4

Saturday January 23rd

Alex woke up at 7:25 and woke me up.

Alex: Crap Baby Horse we missed our alarm get up!
Me: why are you yelling at 7:25 in the morning? Wait 7:25 crap!
Alex: I know.

Alex and I rushed around brushing our teeth and I had to do my mascara and eyebrows. I grabbed my shirt and ran to catch Alex in the elevator. We walked in right at 7:30.

Kelley: twins cutting it close aren't you?
Hope: you did your mascara and eyebrows but no shirt really?
Me: hey you know I don't go anywhere with my eyebrows but I don't care about my shirt.
Ash: yeah we can tell

Alex and I fixed our plates and sat down. I put my shirt on and Jill came in. We watched film and discussed what we saw. We finished eating and watching film so we were free to go. Tobin and I found and actual tennis court to play soccer tennis on. We played for a couple hours and then went to get coffee before lunch. We ate and then went to our rooms. Alex and I sorted out our clothes and talked about our photos from Nike. By the time we finished it was time to go.

We loaded the bus and went to the stadium. The bus pulled around the back and we went to the locker room. In the locker room we changed and put our gear on. We went out for warm ups and did stretches and got ball touches before splitting up. Forwards and midfielders took shots on the goal keepers while defenders did long balls. After we finished and went back to the locker room.

We put on our jackets and did walk out and the starting 11 picture. We took the field and the ref blew the whistle.

Ireland had kick off but we won the ball quickly. We got a throw in around the box and Tobin took it. Tobin threw it to me past the defenders. I one touched it to Alex who shot.

Announcer: throw in from Heath to Baby Horse who no one was unmarked. Baby Horse tapped back to Alex Morgan who had an early finish to put the US up 1-0 in the 6th minute.

We set back up and Ireland kicked off. We won the ball out of the midfield and Tobin went up the left flank. Tobin crossed it in and I headed it to the goal but the keeper knocked it back into the box. Alex saw it and headed again this time making it in.

Announcer: Heath's cross is in. Header for Baby Horse cleared by Byrne but Alex is there and heads it in for her 2nd goal. 2-0 for the US. Alex Morgan and Savannah Solo who we call Baby Horse are becoming an unstoppable duo for this Ireland defense.

We set back up and Ireland kicked off. We fought over the ball for a while. Ireland sent it back to their defense and Alex and I kept high pressure. Their centerback went to pass back to the keeper but Alex saw it and ran onto it. Alex passes it into the goal before the keeper could do anything.

Announcer: pass back for Byrne that is picked up by Alex and goal! Alex Morgan hat trick in the 28th minute to put the US up 3-0.

Ireland kicked off again and toward the end of the half Ali got the ball down the right flank and crossed it in. Alex tried to head in but it hit the post. Carli was there and volleyed it in.

Announcer: Krieger with the cross in. header for Alex, oh it hits the post but Lloyd is there and finishes. 4-0 for the US here in the 45th minute. There is the halftime whistle.

We went to the locker room to listen to Jill.

Jill: Ladies you are playing great. Harris you are going in for Solo, S Mewis in for Lloyd, and Egen in for JJ. Let's head out ladies

We got our break and took the field. We had kick off and both teams fought over the ball. We had many chances but got shut down. Finally Tobin played a ball out wide to Alex past the defender. Alex ran onto it and crossed a perfect ball in. I jumped up and headed it toward the near post and it went in. I ran and jumped on Alex.

Announcer: From Heath to Morgan who crosses it, Baby Horse with the header and it's in. 5th goal for the US here in the 83rd minute. That was Savannah Solo's 4th international goal.

We set back up and after a few minutes the whistle was blown. We shook hands and did autographs and phots before heading to the locker room.

Hope: Baby Horse is defiantly a jumper in celebrations
Alex: yeah tell me about it.
Me: says the one who just about tackled me on that third goal
Alex: hey I was excited
Me: sure well I'm going to shower

Most of us showered at the stadium and then went to the bus. On my way I got stopped for an interview.

Int: Savannah, you assisted Alex Morgan on 2 of her 3 goals and then she assisted yours. How do you feel about that?
Me: oh obviously it's great for not just us but the team. We just read each other very well and we learn to anticipate what the other is about to do.
Int: how do you feel coming out of your first camp with the national team?
Me: I feel great we had a great camp. We learned a lot about each other and got some great improvements as a team.

Int: you go back to school next week how is that?
Me: yes on Monday actually. It's going to be a change. Even though I had plenty work to do during camp I still have a lot of class work to make up. I also have my high school soccer season to finish out hopefully with a third state title in a row.
Int: well good luck and thank you for your time
Me: of course thank you.

We got on the bus and went to the hotel. We had snacks and then went to bed.
