"Jay" Caitlin spoke, her voice calm although her mind was flipping. She could feel herself shaking as she gripped her plate, placing it quickly on the table between the two. "I thought you were dead" Caitlin acted as though she was stuffing her hands in her back pocket but her phone was there, she managed somehow to call Barry, hoping he'd picked up, she glanced down at it, pressing the speaker button for him but muting his voice so Jay was clueless.
"It's Black Flash now but yeah I did too, turns out wraths aren't hard to destroy at all, it was their faults. Look what they did to my face" Jay growled, showing her the side of his face wear it had been torn off, so there was just bone and rotting flesh, Caitlin immediately cringed. "So, whilst I was stuck in that prison I had time to think. Of my revenge. I wasn't originally going to start with you, Wells was first but then I heard about you and Barry...moved on pretty fast haven't you?"
"No, because Jay, I never really loved you" Caitlin stated, making his face go from calm to stone cold in milliseconds. She folded her arms, glaring down at him. "Now come on, spill how you want to kill me and get it over with"
"Oh no, no, you see my dear Doctor Snow...I'm going to watch you have your heart hurt...again and again and again, until everyone of your little friends are scattered bodies in all corners of the earth, ten feet underground" He hissed, flashing beside her ear, and within a second she'd moved as fast as she could to the opposite side of the room, a sickening feeling in her stomach. Where's Barry?! She thought. She didn't usually panic but her former sociopathic ex was telling her ways he was going to kill her friends.
"By the time you get to murdering a second friend, I wouldn't feel sadness anymore, just hatred, anger against you, you wouldn't achieve anything killing them" She spat, her confidence returning as she tried to put him off the idea of slaughtering her friends.
"Oh that's what I want, Killer Frost is what I want, that icy, frozen, heartless, exterior is what you'll be once they die, you'll have nothing to live for, nothing to switch your caring emotions back on, only anger" He grinned, loving his genius plan, Caitlin wanted to be sick, he was off his head, killing everyone just to get back at her. Finally a blast of wind knocked Jay back, and Caitlin was in Barry's arms, stood in the basement of the new arrow cave, just under Oliver's office. Felicity, Thea, Oliver and Diggle rose from where they were almost automatically. Barry was out of breath, having sped up faster than usual, he rested his head on Caitlin's before flashing away and one by one all the people Barry cared about were in the arrow cave. Oliver glared at Barry, angry he was giving away their hide out but it fell as he saw Barry's look of concern on his face, he could see the ones he had brought there were just as confused.
"Do you mind if we stay in here? Until it's safe?" Barry asked, finally speaking up as Felicity headed over to Caitlin and the others.
"Barry, what's going on?" Oliver frowned, stepping forward, placing his bow down and heading over to his friend.
"Jays back and I can't protect them all at once, besides Jay knows Central City, he wouldn't think of us coming here" Barry answered, he peered over at his friends. They were listening too. "He's going to kill them, one by one"
"Then we'll stop him" Oliver declared, picking his bow back up about to turn but Barry caught his shoulder.
"If he sees you, he'll add you to Caitlin's list of friends to murder in front of her, I'll get rid of him, kill him this time, hero or not" Barry announced, flashing out of his suit and into his normal clothing. "We all just need somewhere to stay until I go back"
"Sure, uh, Theas got a spare room, Felicity has two" Diggle spoke up, he wished he could spare a room but the spare room was Sara's now.
"I also have two pull out sofa beds" Felicity grinned, happy she could help, even though she was terrified for her friends. Luckily Jay had no clue who she was.
"Thank you" Barry sighed of relief, hugging Felicity, he hated bringing his friends into it but he had no choice. "Me, Caitlin, Cisco and Iris will be at Felicity's, Joe go with Thea, she can keep you safe if need be"
Thea nodded to Joe, understanding that Barry meant now. Felicity indicated to Cisco and Iris that they should head off now. Oliver was back with Felicity again, he hadn't told Barry but he guessed he figured it out, he left Caitlin and Barry alone, dragging Diggle to tag along with him. Caitlin watched as the boys left, the elevator doors closing behind them and she walked up the couple of steps, heading over to Barry and holding his shoulder, letting her fear show now. Although to Barry, it was never really hidden he could read her like a book. He placed his hand over hers, stroking the back of her hand with his thumb as he looked up at her.
"I was so scared, Barry. I was half expecting him to kill me then and there or take me again, putting me back in those chains" Caitlin whispered, her voice breaking halfway through, Barry stood up and held her, the only way he knew how to ensure her that she was safe.
"I know Cait, I know but I won't let that happen, god help me if he even lays one finger on you" He expressed, the anger clear in his voice, he stroked Caitlin's hair gently. He could feel her shaking in his arms. "He isn't going to hurt anyone, not again"
"I love you, Barry" Caitlin mumbled into his shoulder, holding him tighter. Staying in that position longer than need be, assuring each other they were together.
"I love you too" He whispered, pulling back a little, leaning in to kiss her and entwining their hands. "Felicity will be waiting outside, I can't flash us there people might see and report The Flash is in town, and thats the last thing we need" Caitlin nodded, resting her head on his shoulder as they headed out, spotting Felicity sat in the truck waiting patiently, swinging open the passenger door when she seen them. Iris and Cisco sat in the back as Caitlin, Barry and Felicity were upfront.
