Caitlin stirred, her eyes gradually adjusting to the streaming light coming from the crack in the curtain, she felt a slight movement, shifting so that she felt arms wrap around her back, holding her a little closer to his chest. She remembered Barry was there and grinned, laying her head on his chest listening to his heart race beneath his chest. In that moment, led quietly beside each other, they forgot about their worries, about Zoom, about how they were stuck in Star City until Zoom is gone, about the fact that they'd have to keep everyone safe. They just led quietly, listening to each others breathing, letting the clock tick to another minute, savoring the moment of peace. Then she felt Barry kiss the top of her hair, she could already feel the blush approaching.
"Morning" He said, his voice groggy from his sleep, Caitlin, tilted her head to look up at him and smiled shyly.
"Good morning"
"Did you sleep well?" He asked, releasing a arm around her to run his fingers through his hair, attempting to comb it with his fingers but it stayed the way it was when he woke up.
"Yeah, really well" She yawned, covering her mouth as she finished yawning, Barry smirking to himself, knowing she was still tired. "Did you?"
"Yeah, I dreamt about my mum and dad, it was pretty amazing actually, almost real" He said it with such love, Caitlin was afraid she'd made him upset but for the first time, he was smiling as he mentioned his parents. Seeing Barry smile made her smile too, giving him a morning kiss, before flipping the quilt off of them, letting in the cold air, Barry instantly shivered, groaning. "Really Cait? Can't we stay in bed?"
"No, our city, your city, is going to be torn apart if we don't figure out a way to stop Jay, trust me, I wish we could stay in bed all day, but theirs work to be done" Caitlin commanded, walking around to his side of the bed and pulling his hand, using her best strength to pull him out of bed but it was no use. Barry grinned, flashing instantly into fresh clothes, and his head rested on Caitlin's shoulder. "Oh stop smirking, go and see the others, I'll be out in a minute" She rolled her eyes, shoving her hand carefully in his face, pushing it off her shoulder, she smiled as Barry frowned but left the room.
As he headed to the kitchen, he could hear the quiet whispers of his friends, all eating their breakfast and gossiping about Oliver and Felicity and himself and Caitlin. But as soon as he entered the kitchen silence surrounded the room, Iris and Cisco returning to their breakfasts as Barry glared between them. He wanted to know what they were saying but left them to their gossip, enjoying that their were no questions of Zoom flying his way yet. He heard a muffled giggle, all three of them turning their heads in the direction of the stairs, Felicity coming down them red as the colour, Oliver close behind her. Barry grinned, enjoying the scene, both of his friends were happy again, something he wanted for them all, his mind snapped to Joe and he focused on Iris. "Have you checked on Joe this morning?"
"Oh, yeah as soon as I got up, he said he was fine, he was cooking Thea some breakfast to thank her for letting him stay" Iris replied, automatically checking her phone, seeing if her father had messaged her. "Sleep well?"
"Great, thanks" Nodded Barry, ignoring her attempt to embarrass him. Returning his bowl of fruit and fibre, making a second one for Caitlin and leaving it on the table beside him. Felicity frowned, sitting across from Barry as Oliver rummaged through the cupboards searching for the waffles.
"Where's Caitl-" She began but the click of the bedroom door sounded, alerting them Caitlin was coming and grin spread across Felicity's face, happy to see her best friend. "Morning!"
"Someone's chirpy this morning" Caitlin giggled, hugging her friend. "Good morning Felicity"
"Well, all of my friends are in one building, well except Joe and Thea but that's okay" Felicity beamed, watching Barry kiss Caitlin's and her blush furiously, preparing to eat her breakfast. Iris had gone back into conversation with Cisco, something about one of Cisco's new gadgets. Everything seemed chilled, happy for once. Barry snapped a photo of the scene, wanting to remember another memory where they were happy. He smiled down at the photo, Caitlin noticed Barry's smile down at the phone and couldn't help but feel a little worried, not for Barry's health.
"Uh, who are you messaging?" She asked as what she thought was casual, eating another spoonful of her breakfast.
"Don't worry Cait, I'm just looking at the photo I just took, look how beautiful your smile is" He gestured the phone to her and she held it grinning down at it, smirking at him.
"At least I'm wearing make-up this time" She nudged him playfully and he rolled his eyes playfully. Taking the phone and setting the photo as him home screen. Caitlin shook her head lovingly, placing her hand over his, a serious expression flooding her features. "About Zoo-"
"Not yet Cait, we can deal with that later, let's just...enjoy breakfast" He smiled at her, dismissing her words, knowing exactly what she wanted to talk about. Oliver understood Barry's need to push it away until he felt like talking about it, Oliver felt it every time he faced someone stronger than him. He held his friends shoulder, giving him a look of understanding and nodded his head lightly. Barry doing the same.
"Okay, just...don't forget about it Barry, he wants to kill me and he won't stop, not even if your on the brink of killing him" Caitlin muttered.
"I know, but I'll make sure he doesn't get to you, any of you" Barry insisted, returning to his dish which was almost finished, his stomach still roaring and Cisco tossed him a protein bar. "Thank you"
"Keep that energy up, now, what exactly are we doing today? Are we meeting Joe and Thea?" Cisco asked, glancing around the large table.
"If we're going anywhere, we'd best be discrete, we can't have Zoom running through the city and spotting us all strolling the streets, he'd take hold of all of us in seconds" Barry told them, their attention turning towards him. Caitlin slid off her stool.
"Well I'm going to get my new boots on, black boots go with anything and why not? White jumper, black leggings and black boots will go right?" Caitlin asked, mostly aiming it at the girls as the boys held up their hands in surrender, not having any advise for fashion. Iris nodded and Felicity tilted her head looking at Caitlin, she was imagining the boots on Caitlin and got off her stool and headed over, getting on her tip toes and reaching up for Caitlin's hair band, gently taking it out of the messy bun and fluffing it up over Caitlin's shoulders. Examining her friend and holding up her thumbs.
"Perfect, oh! Don't forget the scarf, Star City is much colder than Central City" Felicity advised, Caitlin grinned nodding and spinning on her heels heading out of the kitchen and heading for her room.
