ENTRY 33

We left our friends early this morning and continued on our journey to the Zartoon city. It was still a long way off, but with our travelers I knew we could make it before night came. It would be hard, but we could make it. It was strange though, nothing happened for a few hours, but then we hit a storm. We saw it coming over the flat ground miles away, so immediately Pandorica and I found a deep ditch we could hide in.
We talked through the storm when we were able to hear each other over the wind. Now, this is just a guess, but I would say that the winds were either equal to or more than a level 5 hurricane. We were down fairly deep in that ditch, but we saw animals, bushes and even trees flying overhead. God, were we lucky that we were safe.
"How do you feel about the baby?" Pandorica asked. I wasn't going to lie to her. It was a shock and I think that she understood that.. Maybe it might have been a shock to her as well, and I also was wondering what her father would say. This wasn't a situation like before when Pandorica had been ordered to my bed.
This was a child born of love, one that had not been pre-ordered by the Zartoon council. Maybe it wouldn't be too bad since we are married, but then again... who knew how a Zartoon father would react to, not a male hatchling this time, but a child born of love, between his daughter and Fa' Nex, the human from Phoenix?
"Pandorica, I am so happy for us," I said. Well, I couldn't hurt her feelings could I, and I really was happy."I am looking forward to being a father to a child born of our love!" She smiled and looked so happy, and relieved, possibly my getting drunk so quickly the night before might have made her slightly apprehensive.
Now I could see she was content and happy. "It will be different this time Fa'Nex" she whispered softly, "so very different. A child born of true feelings between a Zartoon and a human, is a very different type of birth, to the one that produced our son." She looked at me with a softness in her eyes that I found so beautiful. "This will be a birth, more like a human birth of your world, Fa Nex. I do not why this is, but it just is." she smiled knowingly as the storm raged above us. "It has happened many times before when a Zartoon and a human mated in love, and not just in authorized reproduction.
This time, it will be an actual human birthing, not just a Zartoon hatching of an egg." I did not reply, and even though this horrific storm was raging above us, I felt calm and at peace and so overcome with feelings for Pandorica and our child.
The storm passed after an hour, and we were back on the trip again. There was nobody to be seen along the way. Even the Human patrols were strangely missing, but certainly we had no intention to stop at the Human city to find out what was going on. We actually went a few miles out of the way to make sure we didn't get too close to the city.
Finally, we were within sight of the Zartoon city.
"There is something wrong," Pandorica said so we both dropped to the ground and got as low to the ground as we could. "Look," she said as she pointed above the city. There were extremely large birds flying over the Zartoon city.
I had never seen anything like them before, but Pandorica had and she was not happy to see them now. "Those birds are called Mystical Eagles and they only show up when something has gone seriously wrong. I have seen them before, but never that many in one place."
We watched as the birds flew around, occasionally diving behind the city walls. There had to have been something wrong, very wrong indeed. We decided that it would be better to enter the city after dark. The birds would be long gone and it would be safer for us so we just sat and waited, but I have also taken time out to write this entry. Now I have to rest up till tonight, when we will together as husband and wife return to the Zartoon city and Pandorica's family.
