I finally made it back to where that woman, Erinna, talked to me. You know, sometimes the weather just cooperates with you. There had obviously been no wind to speak of because her footprints were as clear as the moment she walked away. I guess I should thank the gods for that, but after what they did to Pandorica. I don't want to talk, either to them or even to the God I grew up with, and I still don't understand why he, or they, did what they did to land me on this planet. But I have accepted my fate, and now Pandorica is my only thought, and saving her by getting back the white sword.
Erinna had headed off into the desert, and she already had a couple of days head start. It was going to be hard and a long trip, so I psyched myself up and started out at 08.20. Let's see, that was eight hours ago. I am tired and thirsty. I didn't bring enough water with me, but I do know how to survive... not thrive but just survive. I would do what they did on Earth, especially in the Sahara or the Painted Desert. I would drink water from the plants on my way. There weren't very many, but there were enough.
"Fa Nex, you must keep going no matter what," a voice said in my mind. "I am waiting for you. I am not going to leave you. I love you too much." I listened carefully to the voice. It sounded a little like Pandorica, but it was somehow different. It was softer, more distant than I had heard before. "I know who you are looking for; she is not far ahead of you, maybe a day. I know that you can make it." Then the voice just went silent, but even in its silence, it motivated me. I was determined to catch that woman, get the sword back and save my Pandorica.
I am not going to stop to sleep tonight. The moons will be bright enough for me to see where I am going. I want to be within hours of that thief, Erinna, when the sun comes up. I don't know, rather let me say I am not sure, what I am going to do, but one way or the other I am going to be holding that sword by sunset tomorrow. I promise myself that!
