Pandorica and I have been trying to sleep, but it has been a bad night. My hand is completely swollen and has begun to turn blue, the pain is totally unbearable, and she has no idea on how to help me. It is so horrendous that I am pretty sure that I am going to die fairly shortly, but I cannot, will not let her know how concerned I am for my life.
I asked if she had ever heard of anything like this oasis?
"Fa Nex, I did hear stories about islands in the great sea where the plants and animals are poisonous. Zartoons have been banned from there, since time immemorial. There was also the talk of a human, who, despite all warnings, went there a year ago, and he never came back. That just reinforced the ban, but I have never heard of anything like that here, until now!"
To make the situation even worse, winds during the night had erased our footprints, so we had no idea where to go ahead, and no idea exactly where we had come from, so it was going be just dead reckoning and the hope we got it at least somewhat right.
I really couldn't travel, but I didn't want to endanger Pandorica, so I looked at the sun, and we started walking with the sun to our back. In my mind, it was much safer to be walking than it would be if Pandorica insisted on staying with me and then happened to touch the wrong plant.
