It has been two days, and Pandorica and Rhosly were coming in and out of consciousness again and again. I am so worried about them. There were some dead trees nearby, so I managed, with a lot of effort, to build a semi-decent shelter. It wasn't much, but it was enough to keep the night's winds and the burning sun off them.
There was something so wrong, and I had no idea what it was or what was causing it. It was almost as if something had just come in a taken their life force away from them, just leaving them enough for them to stay alive. Then a flash of memory once again came to me, and I remembered something like that from horror films back on earth. Vampires would attack someone and drink enough blood to quench their thirsts and leave enough blood to keep the person alive so they could feed again later. There was one movie where a vampire fed from the same person four or five times before they let them die.
I did my best to feed them both and give them water, but they weren't getting any better. They both seemed a lot worse; then they had been the day before!
Later on that day, I could hear something or someone was coming up towards our camp. I could hear them on the other side of a big rock on the north side of the clearing. I grabbed a stick as I stood up, and braced myself and waited for whatever it was to come around. It didn't take long. I don't remember if I smiled or not when I first saw them. It was two soldiers from Tergina.
"Williams from Phoenix," one of them said."What is happening here?" I explained to them what had happened, and I showed them the sword, but they weren't interested in that they wanted to care for Pandorica and Rhosly. "We do not have room for you, but we will take Gavabu and the little princess back to our village, and we will give them the best treatment we can." They both dismounted, picked up Pandorica and Rhosly and then remounted their creatures and started to leave. But before they rode off, one of them said.
"I have seen this before Williams from Phoenix, and it grieves me so to tell you, but there is very little hope that they will survive." Then they rode off.
I didn't know what to do other than to follow them as best as I could. Crying, at what was happening, that would come later, right now, I had to get to that village to take care of my wife and baby.
