Decisions (Tadashi x Male!Reader)

For as long as you could remember, there had been Tadashi in your life. You grew up with him as one of your closest friends and were always seen together. Where one was, the other wasn't far behind.

He was however a year ahead of you in school so you were left alone while he left for SFIT. You still made time to hang out but often he was busy with his projects. Sometimes though, he would show you what he was working on and would let you help. It wasn't as if you didn't have any other friends, you simply didn't understand them or connect with them as well as you had with Tadashi.

Before you knew it, the time had come to pick a college for yourself. Personally, you were having a tough time deciding between your two schools of choice, SFIT or Krei Tech. Both were great schools. However, Krei Tech had come to you and made a very convincing offer that made it afordable. On the other hand, Tadashi was at SFIT. The last year however had shown you that you didn't always need to be by his side.

You spent a long time going back and forth with your decision but after weeks of thinking it over, you decided to go to Krei Tech. Their offer was good and their program was prestigious. SFIT was a little too expensive without you getting any scholarships.

You weren't sure how you were going to tell Tadashi but you hoped that he would understand and respect your choice.

"Why wouldn't you tell me sooner?" Tadashi said. You had told him your choice to go to Krei Tech and he had blown up. It was strangely out of character for him and it had stunned you.

"It just took me a while to decide. You're the first one I've told."

"But why would you go to Krei Tech? You know their reputation." You sighed.

"They made me a good offer and they are a good school." Tadashi scowled and put his hands on your shoulders.

"Please don't go there. What about SFIT? It's just as good of a school if not better. And what about our friendship. Don't you care?" Tadashi asked. You stepped back and pushed his hands off of your shoulders.

"I do care but I've made up my mind. I need to go." With those final parting words, you turned and went home. You looked over your shoulder once to see Tadashi staring after you, a tear traveling down his face.

The next day you were curled up reading your favorite book at home. You were looking for any distraction from Tadashi's reaction and you hadn't read that book in months. A knock on the front door brought you back out of the fictional realm.

You crossed the living room and opened the front door. Your eyes widened at the sight of Tadashi.

"What do you want?" You asked as you crossed your arms across your chest.

"I wanted to apologize for yesterday. It wasn't right for me to try to stop you. It is your life and your decision after all. I was just shocked that you didn't want to go to SFIT."

"It's alright. I did kinda spring it on you. I know we've always stuck together but I feel that Krei Tech may be better because of their offer." Silence fell between the two of you. Several moments passed before Tadashi spoke.

"I can see that you've already made up your mind but you should know something first. I have always considered you a close friend and for a while now, I wish we could be more. "

Your breath caught in your throat and you could feel your heart racing. Did he just say what I think he did? You thought.

"Do you mean that you like me? Like in a more romantic way?" He nodded. That explains why he wanted me at SFIT so badly. "I like you too. Even so, I don't know if I can even afford SFIT." Your eyes fell to the ground. You liked him and wanted to be with him but the cost had been your major deciding factor.

"I can help. There's a lot of grants that would give you the money you need. You're definitely smart enough." Heat spread across your cheeks and you knew that your face was turning a dark shade of red. "We can make it work. Just consider it, please." You thought about it for a moment. If he was telling the truth, you'd be able to stick by him after all.

"Alright. I guess I should tell Krei Tech I won't be attending." A smile grew across Tadashi's face.

"You changed your mind?" Tadashi asked.

"I can't leave you all alone, now can I? Especially after finding out you like me." You pulled Tadashi in for a hug and you couldn't help but grin when Tadashi hugged back. When you parted from the hug you opened the door farther. "Come on in, we have work to do If I have a chance to join you at SFIT.
