To Be Alone (Tadashi x Reader x Hiro)

High school had been boring for you. You were often done with your homework far in advance and you didn't have any close friends to speak of. It wasn't because you couldn't make friends, you just preferred to be alone.

It was during your second year that you met Tadashi. You hadn't been paying attention to where you were going. You heard the smack before you felt it vibrate through your body. Your books scattered across the linoleum floor. It took you a moment to figure out that it had been a guy about your age. He seemed surprised at finding himself suddenly on the floor.

"I'm so sorry! Are you okay?" You asked. When he nodded, you went about picking up your things. Out of the corner of your eye you saw him kneel next to you. As you were reaching for the last notebook you felt your fingertips brush his. You quickly pulled away.

He stood and helped you to your feet. He handed you your last notebook and smiled. You couldn't help but return it.

"Here you go. Are you okay? That was quite a fall." He asked you.

"Yeah I'm fine. I should look where I'm going. I should get to class. Thanks for the help." You turned and started walking away when he called out to you.

"Hey wait." You stopped and looked back at him. "I'm Tadashi."

"My name's (Y/n)."

It wasn't long before you crossed paths with Tadashi again. The next day you were eating lunch alone, completely engrossed in a book when you felt someone sit on the picnic bench beside you. Glancing up, you saw the man you'd run into.

"Hi, (Y/n). How's your book?" He said.

"Tadashi, right?" He nodded. "It's good. I've read it before but wanted to re-read it since it'd been awhile. Have you read it?"

"No, I haven't gotten the chance. Would you mind if I borrow it when you're done?" You made mental note of your page and closed the book before handing it to him.

"As I said, I've read it before. Go ahead and borrow it now."

The bell rang signaling the end of lunch.

"Enjoy the book."

"I will. Bye (y/n)."

As weeks passed, you and Tadashi hung out more and more. He finished the book and you lent him another that he hadn't read yet. Sometimes you'd also hang out with his younger brother Hiro, who was also a genius like Tadashi.

You also found yourself falling for the handsome junior. He was everything you liked in a guy; smart, funny, nice. He had also brought you out of your shell in the short time that you'd known him. Instead of eating alone, he had introduced you to a few of his friends so you ate with all of them.

At the beginning of your junior year and Tadashi's senior year, he pulled you aside from the lunch table to talk to you. He wore his normal calm expression but you could tell that he was nervous about something.

You followed him out of the building and into the small courtyard that sat in between several buildings. Several small trees and bushes grew around a picnic table. He sat down and you followed his lead, anxious to hear what he wanted to say.

"Lately, I've been thinking about that day we met. It all happened because we ran into each other, neither watching where we were going. You could have run into anyone." He started before pausing.

"What are you getting at? We met because I'm clumsy. At least we became friends."

"We did and I'm happy for that. I like you, (Y/n). I have since the day we met and the feeling has only been growing since. What I want to ask you is this, will you go out with me?"
