eleventh thought

i stood, waiting for the sign

that told pedestrians to cross when it was okay.

i was holding a brown bag,

from jungkook's favorite store.

i had bought him a couple shirts and

a few more beanies to add to his collection.

i think he was going to be thrilled when i came home,

and the thought of it made me excited, too.

the light blinked a white,

showing the pedestrian sign,

and i quickly crossed.

there were people around me,

talking on their cellphones,

or chattering with a friend of theirs.

i walked onto the other end,

and i was about to turn

when i heard a voice of a

middle-aged woman.

"excuse me, miss."

i turned to stare at a lady,

who was a few centimeters shorter than me,

holding a walking stick,

pointing at my direction.

she was wearing black glasses.

"i'm sorry to bother you,"

she said in a calm voice.

"but can you please help guide me back to my home?

my son was supposed to arrive an half an hour ago,

and i fear he is working late in his night shift.

if you can't, i completely understand-"

i came to figure out that this woman was blind.

"oh, it's fine." i beamed at the woman,

even though i remembered that

she couldn't see me.

i took her with my free hand,

and she started telling me her address.

she lived close to my original home,

so i was luckily relieved by the fact

that i wouldn't have to travel far.

"thank you, kind young lady," she thanked me.

"no need to thank me," i replied.

her face was warm and friendly-looking.

i felt pity that she couldn't see.

we turned to the street.

she was walking closer and closer

to taehyung's former home.

my heart skipped a beat.

she must've bought taehyung's old home,

and she and her family were living here now.

i felt good since the house wouldn't be empty

when i looked at it anymore,

but the feeling of someone else

residing in his former house made me

kind of upset.

she opened the front door,

bowing to me.

i felt flustered,

not knowing what to do.

"thank you," she repeated.

"my pleasure," i replied.

she gestured for me to come inside.

"do you have time to stay?

i will fix up some tea or

kimchi with rice for you if you please."

i thought about it.

jungkook wouldn't be home until late,

since he was still working.

i wanted to stay by her side,

so she wouldn't feel so lonely.

"in fact, i do.

thank you," i answered and took off my shoes,

entering her house.

a feeling of nostalgia hit me as soon

as i stepped foot

inside the home.

the furniture was new,

but it reminded me of everything.

i even smelled his scent around.

i heard her pouring me some hot tea,

and i felt bad for not pouring her tea

because i was shaking too hard

from nervousness.

we talked about our lives

and she told me that she was born blind,

and she always had a sense of guilt

because she raised her sons by her own.

she felt bad because she wasn't a normal mom,

and she couldn't raise her kids normally.

hearing the story made me emotionally,

and i brushed away a few tears

that threatened to fall on my face.

as she talked,

she continued to pour my tea,

and give me some kimchi.

she had an idea of when i had finished,

even though she couldn't see what was around her.

i was taken aback how even though

she had a disability,

she didn't let it take over her,

and she dealt with it peacefully.

about two hours into our chat time,

a car outside locked,

and the woman jumped up in delight

and ran to the door.

"it must be my son!" she cheered,

and seeing her joyful

made me feel the same.

i stood up,

helping her unlock the door

for her son to enter.
