I wake up.

-Great, school..

Yeah right, like somebody would actually enjoy school. Of course, I have to go anyway, it's my first day.

-Yo, Ash! Get up, you're gonna be late!

-Coming!

There goes my big brother, or should I say, step-brother, the only person in this wretched family that I actually like.

-Come downstairs RIGHT NOW! You don't want to miss your breakfast, I'm only making it once! Its your LAST warning!!

There's my step-mom. Enough said, you won't be hearing much more from her anytime soon.

-I'M COMING!!

Ever since my mom sent me to a foster home, my life has been a total WRECK. I never get to see my friends, or my actual parents! Well, my mom anyway. Oh well, life is life..

I hop on my skate board, and ride away, hoping not to be late for class. It is my first day, after all.

••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

I arrive at school. Of course, 20 minutes late.. Oh well, not like I care. Better get to class, don't wanna be too late.

-Miss Harrison, you're late! I wouldn't expect that from you, on your first day!

"Well, expect it, it'll be happening every day for all I know.", I mumble under my breath.

-Just go take a seat beside Jason. It's the only spot available, so you'll have to sit in the back row.

I sit down. I look over to him and he introduces himself with a wry smile. Hey, maybe I found a friend!

-So, you're the new girl? Nice to meet you, I'm Jason. Jason Porter.

-I'm Ashlee-Mae, Ashlee-Mae Harrison.. but you can just call me Ash if you want, I answer.

-Ok.. Ash.

I really hope I like this school as much as my old one.

After class, I went to my locker to get my board, since they let us go outside for a bit. It was a nice day, so I thought I might practice a little bit.

As I head to the railing, I see Jason reading on the steps, so I sit down beside him. I wonder what he's reading..

-Oh, hey Ash. What's up?, he asks.

-Nothing much, I was just gonna skate on the rails here, but I see your reading, so I won't bother you.

-No, it's okay. I'll join you.

-Awesome! Let's go.

Yep. I've definitely made a friend.
