Calum
I looked at myself in the full body mirror one last time. Tonight I was taking Luke out and I was very nervous. I didn't want to fuck this up.
So I dusted off my shirt and decided to just go with it and leave.
It took me about 30 minutes to pick up the pizza and shove it into the picnic basket along with the Cups and plates I had in there . I parked outside of Luke's house, grabbed the bouquet of flowers and walked up his driveway.
With a shaky hand, I raised my fist and knocked.
I stepped back and a few seconds passed until the door opened.
Luke slipped through the door, quickly closing it, he looked up at me and I smiled watching the blush creeping up to his cheeks.
"Good evening, Luke" I smiled. He nodded
And I moved the innocent Daffodils from behind my back to face him and his expression brightened."Oh my gosh" his hands went up cheeks, "these are so cute- thank you"
I grabbed his hand and led him to my car, opened the passenger door for him and made sure he was comfortable before shutting the door and going to my side.
I took a deep breath, attempting to calm my nerves. I slid beside him and we caught eye contact.
I felt my cheeks warming up and smiled. "I really hope you like this.." I mumbled and started up the car.
The drive lasted about about 20 minutes, a 20 minutes filled with Luke continuously asking where we were going. I parked the car, went out to his side and brought him up the big hill.
"Calummm, When I agreed to a date I expected food, not cardio."
"We're nearly there, babe" I squeezed his hand and silence filled the air.
Finally, at the top of the hill I placed down the basket and let go of his hand. He opened up his eyes and I watched as his eyebrows raised and eyes suddenly glistened with happiness .
He leaned forward quickly pecking me on the cheek and I felt myself begin to blush just as quick as he did .
He giggled and grabbed my hands , "it's beautiful out here"
"Well lets eat shall we?"
I laid out the patterned blanket and opened the picnic basket. I attempted to take the pizza out but it was .. really stuck in there ..
"Uhm- yeah, that's stuck.." I chuckled to myself and he smiled. I successfully tore out a perfect slice for him and placed it on a plate and handed it to him. I did the same for me and then pulled out my special drink . Champagne.
Now I'm questioning why I brought such a fancy drink but I mean why not ?
Luke looked at me with a slight smile and wide eyes "..champagne?" He laughed
"Why of course." I popped the bottle and let it spill out a bit into the grass then grabbed two cups and poured it out for him and I.
"What a fancy lad, aye" Luke spoke in a low Australian accent and my eyes shot up to his.
"Oh my god"
"What??" He asked quickly.
"You're accent. Was hot" I gulped and turned away quickly. "I mean, i don't know. Sorry if that was weird" I scratched the back of my neck.
He laughed and shrugged it off, "how'd you find this place anyways?"
"Uh, don't know. One day got kinda mad and went for a ride. Stumbled upon it this little path and i don't know, it's nice isn't it ?" I looked at him and smiled.
He nodded while taking a sip of his champagne.
We carried on with conversation throughout the night, getting more and more comfortable with each other.
Luke was laying on top of my chest as we watched the stars and I played with his hair . He suddenly turned to his side and looked at me.
"Calum?"
I hummed so he'd continue.
"What do you think stars feel?"My eyebrows furrowed at the question and I sat up a little, "what do you mean?"
"Like do you think they worry about things.. like maybe they feel insecure."
I laughed softly, "now why would they feel insecure?"
"Well the sun is a star isn't it?" I nodded. "What if they don't feel good enough? The sun is the light of its world. What if they don't feel as important as the sun?"
I straightened myself out and looked at him, "I don't think they care about that." His expression fell to confusion, "I think they feel quite happy, think about it, there's so many of them, lighting up the night sky, nobody ever gets tired of them. No matter what someone at some point stopped in their tracks just to say.. 'wow look at the stars' it's Just as good as the sun. And maybe far far away they're watching their own little world circle them, you never know"
He looked at me with a slight smile and nodded. "I like that theory a lot more"
