Escape

When the walls come crashing down around you,
The ceiling edging so close to suffocating you,
Everyone leaves,
Your friends drift away,
Family,
Even the one person in this world you love the most,
Yes,
Even she leaves you,
It's a sad world when she does,
There's no escape from the pain,
No refuge from the constant regret and hurt I feel very moment,
I would give the world to have her back,
As she was the only escape I had,
My peaceful island in a sea of chaos,
My one soft kiss in a storm of jagged glass,
But she's become the same,
She's no longer here,
Her pictures,
Her poems,
Her words,
All just shallow reminders of where I went wrong,
The horrible things I said to her,
I never stopped loving you,
I hope you know,
I miss your sweet tender touch,
You loving soul,
Sweet warm hugs,
But my only sense of escape now is solid slumber,
My bed isn't an island but a rock above the water,
Just enough to keep me from the chaotic waters of my life,
But low enough to be cut by the razor sharp waves,
They split my heart and erode my confidence,
I fear I may crumble soon without her,
For she is my only island,
In this sea of chaos,
She's my rock,
My peaceful escape.
