Sit smugly in their vase
They mock my failure
A reminder of the loss awaits
You wouldn't take them
My days of planning
Of care and protection of their green stem
My heart lies torn
The roses' petals now lie brown
The counter doth they do adorn
Shriveled and dying
As is my being
You left, away you're flying
Do you truly love me?
I yearn for your approval
My heart lingers for a "we"
Is it really gone?
You're wings took flight
And left me alone
But here my roses stay
White petals sitting softly
Heavy does my crumbled heart now weigh
