Okay, okay allow me to explain you a thing.
I have type one diabetes (but I think we all know this) and I use a thing called an omni pod. I'm not gonna go into great detail, but here is some vital information for my story.
There is the actual pod part of the omni pod which stores insulin in it, and there is a small tube which goes into my skin so the insulin can get from the pod to my body. This tube is called the cannula.
So, I need to change the pod every three days for two reasons.
Reason one: The pod runs out of insulin. I only fill it with about 175 units of insulin, which lasts me three days.
Reason two: Due to the fact that the cannula is not a part of my body, the cells in my body will reproduce to try to "mend" the hole that the cannula has left. Basically, my skin will make the cannula part of my body so no insulin can get into me. But it's cool, I change it every three days so this doesn't happen. Unless I forget and my pod wakes me up at 2 AM because it ran out of insulin haha.
ANWAYS in the process of changing my pod, it's possible that where the cannula was will bleed a lil bit. It's just because it's like a needle, right? Right.
So I've recently been keeping the pod on my stomach instead of my arms because apparently the pods have made my arms too puffy or something? Idk, doctor's orders.
But I guess the skin on my stomach is not as strong as my arms?
So I was changing my pod and I take it off yada yada and start filling a new one. As I'm waiting for the pod to get ready (it needs to pop lil air bubbles which takes like a minute idk okay it's technology) I feel my shirt getting wet.
So I look down, and my shirt is all wet where my pod was previously, so I look at where the pod was and THERE IS SO MUCH BLOOD so I'm calmly like
"Oh... Oh shi- no this isn't good"
And I clean the blood off but let me tell you a thing.
The blood was not just coming from where the cannula was.
I have about 5 other cuts on my stomach because the pod RIPPED OFF MY FRICKING SKIN AKSUUSDHSJS
So I go to my dad and I'm like
"uh dad... This happened"
And he's like
"oh.. Hm your skin must be sensitive. Put lotion on it, it should go away soon but it might sting"
So I'm like
"Pfft how bad could it possibly be"
HA
So I put the lotion on AND HOLY BAJEEBLES IT HURT LIKE HELL
And now I'm in pain, sad, and I have no hope for sleeping on my stomach
