My mum kept calling me, but I couldn't talk to her. She was making me leave my life here. I liked it here. I received a text from my mum telling me she was 5min. Away.
I honestly didn't want to see her under these circumstances, I missed her and I knew I'd be happy to see her. But, again not under these circumstances.I hadn't started packing anything yet. I wanted to be annoying, I weren't ready to leave.
My stomach was growling, and I walked to the kitchen. My house was usually clean. I didn't like it when it was messy, but these past two days I hadn't really cared.I couldn't help but look around, I was going to miss my little apartment. I had made this my home for the past 3 years and I was going to miss it. I grabbed something to snack on then returned to the living room. I sat on the couch and started thinking.
Wait.. My mum had met Rajveer before. When her and my dad visited last time, Sanju had invited them over for dinner, and Rajveer was there. And she actually seemed to like him, or at least she didn't mind him. I sat up straight, I had just got a little bit of hope. Maybe if she knew it was him, she would reconsider. I hung on to that thought, and put my snack away, and started cleaning. I knew my mom would be pissed if she saw this, I had to at least try to convince her, that Rajveer was a good man, but to do that my house had to be clean. My mother was right I was stubborn, and I couldn't go down with out a fight. That was the least I could do, now that he had been fighting for me for 3 years, I had to fight for him now.
I was almost done when my doorbell rang. I slowly walked over to let her up, preparing myself mentally to fight. "Hello?" I said picking up the phone. "It me Avni, open up" the sound of her voice made me shiver. You could hear that she was disappointed. But I gathered myself, and pushed the lock and let her up. I opened my door and continued cleaning. I was in the bathroom, and I heard the door click shut. I knew she was here now. " I am in here mom" I yelled, and kept cleaning the sink. She appeared in the doorway, and I couldn't help to feel happy. I was indeed happy to see her. "I know you're disappointed in me, but can I just say that I have missed you, and show you that by giving you a hug?" She gave me a stif look, and then it went soft, she opened her arms and I ran into them. I hugged her tightly, and took in the familiar smell of her in. I felt home now that she was here. I let go and looked at her "you look just as beautiful, as I left you" I said and her look soften a lot more, she started crying "I have to admit I have missed you, and that I love you. I am only doing this for your own good." She said. I looked at her and nodded. "I know mama.." and hugged her again. "I am not mad at you, you're my mother and you know what's best for me". I was definitely trying to losen her up. "We should start parking" I said. She looked at me and nodded. "Why aren't you being stubborn about this?" She asked confused. "I don't want to upset you more than I already have mama. But I promise you, I have never done anything that would shame you." I said and gave her a little weak smiled. She brushed my hair to the side, and stroke my cheek. "I know, but I am taking you home to make sure you don't". With that said, she let go of me, and she started searching for suitcases.
I knew it wouldn't take just a day to pack up and leave. So I was patient. I heard the doorbell rang and my mother head popped into the bathroom. "It's probably just Sanju, she wanted to come help us out so that she could meet you too." She smiled and I went to the door, I picked up, "hello?" I said, sure of it being Sanju. "Let me up!" I heard a firm and dominating voice say. I panicked "No Rajveer, not yet, I can't let you. My mother is here, and she is already upset because of this situation." I heard footsteps behind. "I don't want her to hate me, I am sorry but this is goodbye Rajveer. I am sorry it didn't work out. I have to go!" I said and hung up. I turned around and acted surprised. "Mama" I said. She crossed her arms. "Is that the guy?" She asked. I nodded, she walked past me and picked up the phone. "Hello?" She asked. "AVNI! You can't do this to me please!" Rajveer yelled, my mother looked to the side and pushed the lock button. I looked at her in surprise. She gave me a smile. "I could at least meet him, now that you are accepting leaving." I looked down, as she walked past me and stood in the doorway to the living room.
Rajveer suddenly appeared in the by the door. He was out a of breath and he seemed worried and concerned. We both looked at him, I then turned to my mother who looked surprised. "Is that the guy?" She asked, and I nodded. It seemed as if Rajveer had caught his breath, as he all of a sudden started walking toward my mother. He reached her, grabbed her hands and looked at her. "I am really crazy about your daughter! I am sorry that you had to find out this way, and that you're upset. I understand why you must be upset with both your daughter and I, I really do. I should've asked for her hand before, which I didn't, I messed up. But please give me a chance to prove, that I am worthy of marrying your daughter." I took a step back, as I was blown away by his words.
