"Please Dad" Hope calls, holding onto Ezra's arm as he walks. "I really want to go"
Ezra rolls his eyes. He was a protective dad. Always was and always will be. He couldn't let her go so easily.
"Mason can even come with me" She suggests but that didn't make Ezra feel anymore safe.
Mason was sweet but he was a dare devil. He had tried skateboarding off the house last week but that's another story.
"You're only fourteen Hope" Ezra tells her
"But every other fourteen year old is going to this party!" Hope let's go of Ezra's arm and slumps her shoulders.
"And Cody is a good guy"
Ezra's ears shot open. This was the first time she'd heard about a boy.
"A boy is taking you to this party?" He questions and Hope nods.
"Absolutely not" He instructs
"But dad!" Hope follows him as he walks up the stairs. "It's the party of the year"
"I don't care if it's the party of the century, the answer is no" Ezra ignores her calls as he made his way to his bedroom.
"But Mom already said I could go!" Hope shouts which turns Ezra around.
"Mom said you could go?" Ezra asks, placing his hands on his hips.
"Yeah"
"Well then your mother and I are going to have a little chat before I decide anything" He tells her and as if it was on cue, Aria walks inside.
"Hey baby" She says, wrapping her arms around Hope.
"Hey Mommy" Hope cooes. "Dad and I were just talking about that party you said I could go to"
She motions her hands to a angry Ezra at the top of the stairs.
"Hey honey" Aria says, waving at him.
"Yeah I said she could go"
"WITH A BOY?!" Ezra looks at her astonished.
Hope was pretty. No, Hope was beautiful. She looks a lot like her mother. Flowing brown hair, short, great fashion sense. Ezra had to protect her from any thing he could think of. And It wasn't that he didn't trust Hope. She was a wonderful student, got A's and B's. She participated in Art club, Animal club, played softball and field hockey. She was always a good kid. She hung out with a great group of friends and barely disobeyed her parents. It was just hard to let go. She was still his little baby.
"Daddy, I promise I won't do anything bad. It's just a small party with some friends" Hope assures him.
"Tell Cody he can pick you up here at six" Ezra says, giving in.
Hope's mouth widens into a smile.
"Thank you, thank you!" She says, running up to him and embracing him with a hug.
Three hours later, there was a knock on the door. Ezra opened it to reveal a young boy. He had blonde hair, was wearing a button up blue shirt and jeans.
"Hello Mr. Fitz" He says, holding out his hand.
"My name is Cody"
Ezra liked his politeness and took his hand.
"Nice to meet you, Cody" Ezra says, leading him into the house.
Hope came down moments later. She was wearing a blouse and jeans with strappy sandals. Aria grinned from behind her, giving Ezra a small thumbs up.
"Well we better get going" Cody leads Hope to the door.
"Bye Mom! Bye Dad!" Hope calls as they leave.
Cody's mom sat in the drivers seat of a mini-van and waved at them.
Aria walks down the stairs and her and Ezra stand by the door, watching them drive away.
"Our babies are growing up" Aria says, wrapping her arms around Ezra.
"Yeah. Yeah they are"
