*Listen to the music as you read*
I exit the plane, immediately getting out my phone to find many text messages and missed calls from Aria.
"Crap" I say, clicking her contact and holding it up to my ear.
It goes to voicemail after twenty seconds and i leave a message.
"Hey, Ar. It's me. I just got off the plane and I wanted to tell you that I'm on my way home. I love you"
I start rolling my suitcase out the door when a name echoes through the airport. The name of my fiancé. The name of my one true love.
"Did you hear about that girl that got shot? Aria Montgomery was her name" A passerby says to another.
A nearby Tv plays a news report of the whole situation, saying that Aria was at the Rosewood local hospital and they were still looking for the shooter.
"My Aria" I run my hands through my hair and run out of the airport.
I arrived at the Rosewood Hospital as quick as i could to find all of Aria's friends sitting in the waiting room.
"Aria! Where's Aria?" I shout.
Spencer gets up first, followed by the rest of them.
She crosses her arms. "Why do you even care?"
"Because she's the love of my life.." I start but was cut off.
"You obviously don't love her if you flew to find Nicole and you cheated on Aria. You kissed Nicole and now you're standing here telling me Aria's the love of your life. You make no sense!" Spencer points her finger in my face.
"I love her" I say and she shakes her head.
"And she loved you but I wouldn't blame her if she stopped" She sits back down in her chair, running her hands through her hair.
"Please just tell me where she is" I pleaded.
If I needed to get on my hands and knees I would. This was Aria we're talking about.
"She's in recovery. She had an emergency surgery and they.. they..." Spencer can't choke out the rest of the words.
"They what?" I question anxiously.
"They don't know if she'll live" She finally says after awhile. "They don't know if she'll live, Ezra! And it's probably because of you. AD SHOT ARIA, SHE JUMPED IN FRONT OF ME AND GOT SHOT!" Spencer pauses trying to catch her breathe from all the screaming.
Everyone in the waiting room was looking at us but I didn't care.
"Why would she jump in front of me if she had something to live for? She jumped in front of me knowing she could die. She wouldn't have done that if she knew she'd spend the rest of her life with you. She knows you kissed Nicole and she thinks you don't want to marry her. She jumped in front of me because of you. I hope you can live with yourself" She snarls, turning her back to me and sitting back down in her seat.
"If Aria wakes up, I suspect the last person she wants to see is you so please just leave" She softly whispers, trying to hold back the tears.
"I'm not going to leave when the love of my life might die!" I shout "no way"
"Fine then please stay out of my sight" She shakes her head, biting on her bottom lip.
I decided to follow her orders and sit in the cafeteria, playing with the food. Minutes and hours passed but it felt like days. Finally, it was dark outside as I noticed through the window.
"Ezra" Someone called and I turned. It was Spencer. "I need you to come with me"
I followed her to a room where we stood in front of the door.
"What's wrong with her?" I ask, my words shaking with fear.
"See for yourself" She says, opening the door.
The first thing I noticed was my beautiful Aria laying in a hospital bed.
"Aria" I say rushing to her side and sliding onto my knees to reach her eye level. "I love you"
She smiles at me through her air mask.
"You don't have to talk, just know that I love you" I am crying now, soaking the front of her gown.
"I love you too, Ezra" She says, pulling off the mask and choking out the words.
"I don't love Nicole, I love you. I will love you until the end of time" I tell her.
I hold onto her hand, intertwining our fingers. Then the machines start beeping, sending me into a panic.
"What's happening?" I scream, pushing the nurses call button a million times.
A nurse barges through the door with a crash cart.
"Charge!" She shouts, pulling out padals. "What happened? She was stable!"
"I was just talking to her. I didn't touch anything I promise" I choke out, trying to hold back my tears that began to run down my cheeks.
"She's going into V-fib" The nurse says.
Another lady, pushes me out of the room and shuts the curtains leaving me blinded to everything that's happening just beyond the door.
"Aria, you need to fight! I know you can" I tell her although I'm not sure she can even hear me from inside that room with all the beeping and voices but I still say it anyway. "I love you, never forget that"
Aria can't die. She just can't. I can't have her last memory of me be Nicole and I kissing. I can't. We're supposed to have more time. We're supposed to have a big house where we fill it with people every holiday and where we fill it with kids. The kids we always dreamed of. We're supposed to have a lifetime.
"Aria" I wail, dropping to my knees and running my hands through my hair.
I hear the door open where the nurse exits and shuts the door behind her.
"Is she okay?" I ask and she shakes her head.
"She's brain dead" The nurse says.
Brain Dead. That word runs through my head like a tsunami. She's dead. My perfect, amazing, Aria is dead.
"Can I see her?" I ask and the nurse nods.
She opens the door and lets me back inside the room where Aria's still body lays. I sit down on the edge of the bed, stroking her hair.
"Aria" I say and got no response.
"Aria" I say again. "I know you can hear me. Please wake up. I need you. I need you more than I've needed anything else before. You were supposed to be my wife. You were supposed to be my wife!" I cry into her shoulder. "Aria! Aria! Aria!"
I cry a waterfall, soaking the front of my shirt and hers. I cry and cry and cry. She can't be dead. She just can't. I wrap my arms around her body, trying to come to terms with what was happening. Aria wasn't going to wake up or get better or get married or move in with me or have kids because she was just gone. She wouldn't be the same.
"Mr. Fitz" A nurse says, holding a clipboard. "Her parents came and said they want to leave this in your hands"
I blink hard. "Leave what in my hands?"
"The decision of if she lives on life support or if you let her go" She replied, handing me a pen.
"How am I supposed to make that decision?" I cry, falling to my knees once again.
"It's a hard one but you can take your time" She leaves the clipboard on the side table.
I rise and return to Aria. I hold onto her hand.
"Aria, if you want me to let you go, squeeze my hand" I get no response. "If you want to live, squeeze my hand twice" No response.
"Please tell me, Aria. I can't make this decision on my own" I say, shaking my head in the process.
After I sit there for awhile, I decide what I want to do. I grab the clipboard off the side table, picking the pen up and scribbling my signature on the line. I kiss Aria's forehead before heading for the door. I stand in the doorway, looking back at Aria and staring at the shining ring on her finger.
"I'll see you again someday, Ar" I say "I promise"

A/N: So this was the most highly requested story from my other list and I'm sorry it took so long but I decided to take a break and I had writers block for awhile so I'm gonna try to start the rest of my stories sometime this week. Hope you enjoy!
