Ezra's POV
"Okay kids so today im going to tell you a story" Ezra starts, staring over at his two kids. "It's the story about how I met your mother"

"When I was young, my family was rich. They had maids and housekeepers and cooks and cleaners so when I grew up, I told myself I wouldn't live that kind of life. I paid for college myself. I changed my name from Fitzgerald to Fitz"

"What does this have to do with mom?" My daughter asked me and I smile.
"Hold on, we'll get there"
I adjust my seating position in the chair and start again.

"When I was in high school, I was dating a girl named Maggie. We weren't in love but one day she told me something that I never expected to hear. Maggie told me she was pregnant"

"You got someone else pregnant! Dad I only want to hear about how you met mom" My son complains.
"It would go a lot quicker if you didn't complain" I joke.

"Although, I never shared much about my personal life with my mother. This I had to tell her. So after school that day I told my mom that Maggie was pregnant. I expected her to be furious telling me that I was a disgrace to the family name blah blah blah. But for once in my life, she looks genuine and kind. She told me that she'd take care of this and that I didn't have to worry about it. So I let my mom handle it, but what I didn't know was that she wouldn't handle it the way I had hoped. She had payed off Maggie to leave me and get rid of the baby. She payed Maggie to have an abortion. At the time, it seemed like the worst possible thing but then I realized if Maggie left me for money than we weren't met to be"

"Can we like fast forward a few years?" My son asked and I shook my head.
"Everything I'm telling you, leads up to you mother. We'll get there. Be patient"

"Then I was engaged to a woman named Jackie Molina"

"Dad, we don't need to hear about all your relationships that didn't work out. We just want to know how you met mom" My daughter groans.

"Well as you could have guested, Jackie and I didn't work out. She called off the engagement so I decided that it would be a good idea to move to a smaller town and go to college at Hollis. So one night I went to this pub near Hollis and I met this girl. She was intriguing and mysterious and that's what I liked about her. And that's how I met your mother"

"What!" My son and daughter shouted in unison.
"Just kidding. But that girl was the reason I met your mother" I say

"I saw that girl the night she went missing. She had lied about her age and I told her that I wasn't going to peruse the relationship. The next morning, I heard on the news that she was missing, so I started researching trying to find out what happened to her"

"Is that what the books about? The one in the den?" My daughter asked and I shake my head.
"Nope the one in the den is about your mother" I reply

"One year later, I hadn't accomplished much on the book factor but I had graduated from college and was getting my first teaching job. I ended up at a bar called Snookers that September night. I was sitting about two seats down from the prettiest woman I'd ever seen"

"Was that mom?" My son asked, hanging onto the edge of his seat.
"Yes son that was your mother"

I couldn't help but drift back into that moment before I told my children the rest of the story

"You all right down there?" I asked
"I'm a bit jet lagged, just got back from Europe" She replies
"Where in Europe?" I ask, closing the book I was reading.
"Iceland" She says, looking over with me and giving me a small shake of the head.
"I spent some time in Reykjavik before I went to Amsterdam" I tell her "it's a great city"
She bite her lip. "So do you go to Hollis?"
"Just graduated. I'm gonna start my first teaching job" I smile.
"I... I think I'd like to teach" She tells me
A song starts playing and I recognize it as the one I had payed money for at the jukebox.
"God, I love this song" She smiles, listening to the music.
"B26" I say
"So what's your major?"
"Uh, well, I'm leaning towards English" She tells me.
"That's what I'm teaching" I can't help but smile.
A girl so beautiful and likes the same things as me. Nothing could ever be anymore perfect.
"Well and I write too but so far it's mostly personal... just for me" She tells me
"I'm impressed" I say, giving her a small grin.
"Why" She asks
"I tried writing" I start, moving to the seat next to hers. "But I didn't get very far. Your lucky, if your writing for yourself it's true passion"
I could tell she was blushing.
"Maybe you'd let me read some of yours" I suggest.
"You'd really want to?" She questions and I nod.
"Yeah. You're smart. You've traveled, great taste in music" I say and she laughs. "I'd like to know more about you"
"I'd like to know more about you too" She smiles.

"What are you guys talking about?" Aria asks, interrupting my day dream.
She's holding my two year old baby girl in her arms.
"Your father isn't boring you too much is he?" She walks over to my son and ruffles his hair.
"Dad's telling us about how he met you"
"Well that's a great story" She says, smiling over at me and I can't help but blush every time I look at her.
"Yeah it is"
