The woman opened her eyes to be greeted by a sudden light. She squinted at the brightness.
"Ma'am?" Someone asked but she wasn't sure who was talking to her. "Aria?"
A man woke up to be greeted by the same bright light. He turned on his side to gaze over at a woman. The woman they had just called Aria. He liked the sound of it although he didn't remember ever hearing that name before in his life. It sounded so beautiful and familiar even though he couldn't put his finger on why.
"Aria" The person repeated and this time the woman answered.
"Yes" She said, facing the nurse. "I'm Aria, where am I?"
"You're at the hospital. You were in an accident" The nurse wrote on her clipboard.
"Wow" Is all Aria could muster. She didn't remember being in an accident.
"Your husband is right over there" She pointed at the man lying in his bed only a few feet away.
The man looked over at the woman and smiled. Had he heard correctly? He turned around, trying to find out if there was another man in the room but saw no one. There was no way that he was her husband. He had never seen her before. He defiantly wouldn't have forgotten such a pretty face.
"My husband?" The girl asked. "No, that's not right. I'm only in high school there's no way I could have a husband"
The nurse wrote fast on her clipboard. "From what's written on your charts, I know you're twenty three years old and you're married to that man over there, Ezra Fitz"
"I'm Aria Montgomery" She said, shaking her head. "Not Fitz"
"We'll bring someone in shortly to see you both" The nurse motioned towards the man as well before leaving.
A few hours later, another person came into their room.
"Ezra, Aria" He said, sitting in a chair and wheeling over to each of their bedsides. "How are you both?"
"I'm alright" Aria replied and Ezra shrugs.
"Would it be okay if I asked you two a few questions?" He asks and they both nod in unison. "Do you know what year it is?"
"It's 2008" Aria replies almost instantly "We're in Iceland"
"No, we're in Rosewood" The man says and Aria tries to let that sink in.
Her family had moved to Iceland and hadn't returned to Rosewood. How could she have possibly got here?
Ezra scrunched his eyebrows. He was going to college in Rosewood, at Hollis.
"Ezra, do you know what year it is?" The man motions towards him.
"Like she said, 2008" He says.
He couldn't understand why these people were asking such stupid questions. Aria wasn't his wife. He was still in college and she said she was in high school.
"Okay, your parents want to come see you, Aria" The man leaves and returns moments later with her parents.
"Mom" Aria says, stretching out her arms.
She sees Mike in the corner of her eye and gasped. He wasn't her tiny little brother. He was a muscular man.
"Ezra" Aria's mom says, wrapping her arms around him.
Ezra hugs her back although he doesn't know who she is.
"Mom, am I going crazy?" Aria asks. "Mike is grown up and I'm apparently married. That can't be right, I'm just starting eleventh grade in Iceland!" Aria throws her hands into the air.
"Honey, you seem to have a little memory loss" Her dad chimes in, touching her shoulder.
"Memory loss?! What year is it?" Aria was shaking.
"It's 2016" Mike chimes in.
"You're trying to tell me I missed eight years of my life?" Aria shouts, running her hands through her hair.
"You didn't miss it, sweetie" Ella says "you've been here the whole time"
"I've been here the whole time but I don't remember it" Aria says while Ezra comes to a realization. He couldn't remember the last eight years of his life either.
"Ezra, tell her you're her husband" Ella said, motioning towards the man.
"I'm sorry, I don't know who any of you are" Ezra shook his head.
"You are husband and wife. Mr and Mrs Fitz. Two people that fought so hard to be together. Two people who were bashed and tormented for their relationship but still stood their ground and ended up together. You're soulmates" Ella says. "And I'm going to make sure you remember"A/N: part 2 will be up tomorrow or later today!!
