~Introduction: Joseph

"Five more minutes until you go on stage, Joseph" the music director yelled.

"Hey Eric, have you seen my tie?"

"No, I haven't. Sorry bro."

I looked through my duffel bag again and it was at the bottom, like always.

"Ah never mind, I found it."

I put on my tie, grabbed my guitar, left the dressing room, and headed for the stage. Today was our final concert for the performing arts before summer break. Before it was my turn to go on stage I peeked through the curtains to take a look at the crowd and found my parents and brother sitting in the front row. My dad waved at me and I looked at my mom and I read her lips 'I love you son, I'm so proud of you.' That made me smile. My brother gave me a “thumbs up”.The crowd clapped and cheered for my talented buddy Dylan who was amazing at playing piano and singing "Ordinary People" by John Legend. It was then my turn to go on stage. I was so nervous that night for some reason. I just took a deep breath and walked out onto the stage. The crowd was clapping then it all quieted down and I knew it was show time. I performed "Fly Me to The Moon" by Frank Sinatra. One of my all-time favorite songs. After I finished my song the audience went crazy I was so relieved that they loved it. I walked off of the stage with a huge smile on my face. Next up was the University's orchestra that played beautiful music composed by Mozart. I stood off to the said of the stage so I could hear them better. I knew a couple of people that were in the orchestra, but I didn't really know their names. I just recognized some of them from my classes. After they performed a very good friend of mine and also my roommate Eric, sang a medley by the Temptations and played the guitar. When he performed I was swaying back and forth on the side of the stage. He's one talented individual. After Eric finished it was the concert band's turn to perform. They played some jazz songs and for the last number they played the University's fight song since it was the end of the year. When the whole concert ended I met up with my parents and brother and went out for a nice dinner before I went to my apartment to sleep. I had to kind of sneak into my apartment since Eric was already sleeping on the couch with the TV on for some odd reason instead of sleeping in his own room. I walked up to the TV to turn it off and that's when Eric woke up.

"What the heck bro? I was watching that."

"No you weren't. You were asleep."

"Oh, ha ha I knew that." He got up and stumbled to his room and went back to sleep. Kind of the same thing I did. It was so nice to finally go to sleep after a long day at school taking final exams and having a successful last concert before summer break. I had a feeling that the next day was going to be the start of an amazing summer.

*Cell phone rings*

"Hello?"

"Hey cuz, I'm here. Ready to go?"

"Yeah, let me just go say bye to my mom and I'll be out in a few minutes."

I grabbed my last packed box from my empty bedroom and headed down stairs to the kitchen to say bye to my mom. She was packing some breakfast burritos for my cousin and me to eat on the road. Today my cousin was helping me move to California so I could finish my schooling to become an artist. All of my boxes wouldn't fit in my small truck so I asked my cousin if he would drive the moving truck that I rented and follow me.

"Mom, Zachary is here."

"Ah, okay mija, I packed some burritos for you guys to eat on the way there."

She handed me the paper bag and hugged me. "I'm so proud of you Nicole, and I know you dad is looking down from Heaven and is very proud of you too."
