*Lexi's pov*

[A week later July 31st I wake up in a hospital room both of my parents are sleeping in chairs on both sides of me ; Gram is sleeping in the window seat Grant is asleep on the cot they're all snoring. Kenzie comes into my room she comes over and says:]

"They've been here since you got here."

"Where's my daughter?"

"Dylan has her. Follow my flashlight. Do you remember anything?"

"Someone set my mother's house on fire."

"What's your name?"

"Alexandra Nicole Nolan."

"Can you name everyone in the room for me?"

"Mackenzie Newsome. You were a protege paramedic under Leslie Shay and you were at Rosa's house fire. We were roommates in college then you became a doctor because you wanted something different."

"I never thanked you for talking me down off that ledge that Thanksgiving. I still can't believe you missed Thanksgiving just to stay with me."

"Yea. You would've done the same for me."

"I know that we weren't related or anything but I really miss Christian."

"That is what makes you a good doctor."[Grant wakes up he sits up and picks Mom up and puts her on the cot ; she's still snoring he sits in the chair and scoots as close as he can holding my hand. He says:]

"Hi. Are you okay?"

"Have you been crying?

"You didn't answer my question."

"Neither did you. Where's Charlotte? I wanna hold my baby."

"You will. Soon."

[Everyone in the room wakes up. Mom asks:]

"How do you feel?"

"I want my baby."

"Can I talk to all of you outside?"[everyone but Lexi walks outside I kiss her head she gives me a small smile. I go outside we step away from Lexi's room Dylan, Will, Maggie, Natalie, Connor, April, Ethan, and Dr. Charles come over I say:]"Lexi doesn't know yet."

"I could talk to her."

"No. I'm her husband ; I should be the one to do it."

"How are you holding up?"

"This is the hardest thing that I have ever had to do. How's Hank?"

"He's good. He can go home today."

"Dylan does it ever get easier?"

"I'd like to tell you it does but it doesn't. One thing I do know is that she's going to need you now more than ever same goes for you Gram. She's going to lie and say that she's okay but she just needs you to hold her. Give her space but be there because when she is ready it will hit her like a train and she will need you. She carried Christian and he was her world."

"You mean Charlotte."

"I know what I said. Like I said never gets easier but don't dwell on your loss for so long that you miss out on life. Try again ; go on bike rides with her. Just be there."

"You're a strong woman."

"No I'm not because you're about to change my little sisters life forever. She is strong."

"Has the M.E. found a cause of death yet?"

"SIDS. Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.  It's unexpected and there's really nothing you can do to prevent it. It's rare but it does happen."
