Chapter 54: The Wars Between Us

*Erin's pov*

[May 10th I wake up in a hospital room there's light coming in from the window but it's mostly dark in my room. I look down there's gauze on my
chest I start crying I'm still crying when Dylan comes into my room she says:]

"Hi. Are you okay?"

"I'm fine just please leave."

"Mom."

"Get out of my room!"

"I'm going to sit here with you and we don't have to talk."

"I want you to leave. Get out of my room Dylan Skyler Halstead or whatever the hell your last name is! Tell your father and siblings not to come and see me no matter what. I don't want them here."

"Okay."[I go to the ICU nurses station Maggie asks:]

"How is she?"

"Bitter like I expected. My family is not allowed to see her no matter what."

"Is that your order?"

"Her request. She doesn't want to see any of us."

"Even you?"

"We'll find out."[Dad comes in with flowers he says:]

"Hey ladies."

"Hi."

"Is your mother awake yet?"

"She is but daddy I don't know how to tell you this but."

"What is it?"

"Mom she."

"Dylan just take a breath then say it. I can handle it."

"Well Mom doesn't want to see you."[I can see the light drain from Dad's eyes he looks down at the floor and says:]

"She said that?"

"Yea."

"I want to hear it from her."

"She was pretty clear."

"I want to hear it from my wife. Can I please see her?"

"Room 4."

[I go into Erin's room it's dark. I sit next to the bed Erin says:]

"I don't want you here please leave."

"Erin I have been sitting in that waiting room for days waiting for you to wake up. Just me because I sent the kids home. I was scared to death so whether you like it or not I'm going to sit in here with you."

"I don't want you to see me like this Jay."

"I have seen you at your worse. I can handle it."

"Jay please leave. I'm begging you please just go. If you loved me like you say you do then you would leave."

"Erin you don't have to shut me out."

"You will never understand."

[Dad walks out of the room he comes over and says:]

"Could you make sure she knows that I love her and uh, just take care of her."

"Are you gonna come back?"

"She made it very clear that she doesn't want to see us but I'll be here tomorrow even if I have to sit in the waiting room."

"Okay. Lexi will be staying at the house with you while Carter and I are gone for two weeks."

"Where you taking her?"

"New York and then it's a surprise the rest of the trip."

"So are you guys flying or driving?"
