Chapter 47: Uncertain Bliss

*Erin's pov*

[A week later January 7th Jay is still in the hospital but he's okay. All of the kids are at the hospital except for Nathan. I'm asleep in a chair when Drew shakes me he says:]

"Mom. Go home and get some sleep."

"I don't sleep well without your father. He snores like a fog horn but then again I've always loved ships."

"Well at least take the cot. I'll sleep in the chair."

"Drew I'm fine besides I want to be the first face he sees when he wakes up."

"Mom take the cot."

"Jonathan go back to bed."

"Erin take the cot and stop being stubborn."

"Hey oh I'm so glad you're awake Jay."

"I'm gonna see if I can sleep in an on call room."

"Drew you don't have to."

"It's crowded in here Mom! I'm gonna go sleep in an on call room."

[Drew walks out softly shutting the door I look around the room the kids are all asleep Mason and Henry are asleep on the bed on both sides of me. Erin asks:]

"What happened?"

"We did the marathon and Drew and I were competing the loser had to buy lunch and I guess I must have overworked myself. Baby I'm fine."

"You're not fine you're in the hospital for crying out loud!"

"Erin I can't see. I can't see!"

"Daddy. What's wrong?"

"Dylan is that you?"

"Yea it's me Daddy. What's wrong?"

"I can't see."

"They're gonna take good care of you. I promise."

"No. I want you as my doctor. It's you or no one else."

"Daddy I can't."

"Why not?"

"Because I don't want to be responsible if something goes wrong. Please let them take care of you."

"No! It's you or nobody else Dylan Skyler Halstead! I didn't raise you to step back when times got tough I raised you to be brave no matter what the odds are. So please I'm begging you. Do whatever you have to do but I want you to be my doctor."

"Daddy you know that I love you but I can't do this. I can't."

"I guess you weren't the doctor I thought you were. Get out."

"Daddy."

"Go!"

"I love you."[I leave and shut the door behind me I walk out of the ER Maggie sees me she says:]

"Dylan? Are you okay sweetie?"

"Please just leave me alone."

"What's going on?"

"He can't see Maggie. He can't see and he asked me for help and I couldn't help him."

*Adrianna's pov*

[Around 4am I get up and sit next to Dad he says:]

"Hey. I can see now. It's just dark so who is that?"

"Hey Daddy. It's Addi."

"What's going on princess?"

"Well Avery has been staying out all night every night and when she bothers to come home she smells like perfume that's not hers or mine. I think she's cheating on me."
