A Broken Warrior Finds Comfort In The Cold

Weiss pov

Ozpin: "I'm glad you girls showed up..."
Ruby: "Of course sir now what is it you needed."
Ozpin: "I need... I need you girls to go on a retrieval mission right away it's very urgent."
Weiss: "Ok... But what are we retrieving?"
Ozpin: "Not what it's who. Your retrieving (Y/n) also known as The Pursuer of Death. He was a solo special squad at Atlas that went rogue after one mission. I would like you girls to find him and bring him back here. But be prepared to fight him..." He said as we nodded seeing the picture of (Y/n). It wasnt much to go on since apparently he never took his armor off so no one knew who he was. We took the picture heading to our lockers grabbing what we needed. But I couldn't stop thinking about our target.

Ruby: "Weiss come on you've been staring into space for the past few minutes."
Weiss: "Huh? Oh... Yeah I'm fine... Just thinking about (Y/n)."
Yang: "Have a crush on him?"
Weiss: "No Yang its more like... Why did he go rogue? What could have happened to make him turn away from everything around him?"
Blake: "I was wondering that as well we just have to ask him when we find him." She said as I nodded getting prepared as we headed to the prepped bullhead.

(Y/n) pov

I sat on an old run down building overgrown with moss and stuff. I placed down my greatsword and great shield taking off my helmet. It was sweltering heat right now but I had to stay prepared in case of them coming for me. I looked up hearing a bullhead flying close by as I grabbed my stuff ducking into the building hiding myself. I realized I had forgotten my helmet I was gonna go grab it but someone already had it.

I stared at the person holding my helmet. They had snow white hair in a long ponytail. She exuded this aura of elegance and royalty. And just something about her demanded my attention. I shook my head ridding it of my thoughts questioning why she and other were here.

???: "What did you find Weiss?"
Weiss: "Looks like his helmet so he has to be close by. Im gonna check the building you guys check the surrounding area." She said as the others agreed causing me to panic. It was already hard to hide like this but if someone came in here I would be had. So I took a deep breath grabbing my sword. I hid inside one of the rooms waiting for the girl to walk by.

I watched her walk by as I jumped out grabbing her putting my hand over her mouth and my sword to her throat. She stared at me in both fear and interest. I blushed looking away slightly as I felt her eyes on my face seeing how I looked.

(Y/n): "Your gonna tell me who you are, why your after me, and if I don't like any of your answers well I'm sure you get it." I said as she nodded as I pulled her Into the room I was hiding in standing in the doorway preventing her from escaping. "Alright first question who exactly are you four?"
Weiss: "We are a team from Beacon. My name is Weiss Schnee."
(Y/n): "Alright... Now why are you here?"
Weiss: "We are here to retrieve you and bring you to our headmaster at Beacon."
(Y/n): "How can I be sure your telling the truth? How do I know your not assassin's sent by Atlas to silence me."
Weiss: "Why would we be assassin's?"
(Y/n): "Because... GET DOWN!!" I shouted diving forward pushing her to the ground as an explosion occurred behind me. I grabbed my helmet putting it on while holding her agaisnt my body as the explosions continued bombarding the area around us. Several minutes passed before everything started calming down. I looked at Weiss making sure she was okay having been given more than enough proof she was telling the truth.

Friend: "Did we kill him?"
Best friend: "We better have he couldn't have survived that."
Guy: "Wasn't he your friend?"
Other guy: "Yeah it seemed like you two got along with him so well."
Best friend: "Friends with that monster we were only using him." They said laughing as I trembled causing my armor to shake. I looked down at Weiss seeing her shocked face. I stood up pushing the rubble off of us as they were shocked. "FUCK HE LIVED KILL HIM BEFORE HE GAHHH!!!" He cried as blood poured out of his mouth when I impaled him with my sword. My eyes burned red with hatred as I tossed his corpse aside staring at the rest. They fired their weapons at me we as I shielded behind my great shield. Slowly I walked towards them as they stumbled to back up. I saw my old friend about to turn around and run. I enchanted my sword making it shine blue as I threw it pinning them to a tree dead with the sword through their skull. Soon the body vanished as I absorbed his soul walking over to it pulling it out of the tree. I stared at the two unknown to me as they threw down their weapons waving their hands in surrender. I smirked underneath my helmet turning away from them charging my attack. When I felt it was ready I turned to them unleashing orbs of darkness as they devoured the souls of the two men. I walked back to Weiss helping her up as she stared at me.

Weiss: "W-Who are you exactly?"
(Y/n): "My name is (f/n) (l/n) also known as the Pursuer of Death. I am... Was Atlas number one genocide specialist. Whenever masses needed to be silenced they would call me in and within an hour I would kill everyone in sight... But not all mission... No none of them were for the right reason..."
Weiss: "Is that why you left?"
(Y/n): "I... I couldn't handle seeing my past anymore I just couldn't take it. Their screams haunt my dreams everytime I close my eyes." I said shaking my head fighting back the tears. She stayed silent as her team showed up checking on her. I went with them with no resistance just tired of all the murdering.

Time skip several months later

I had been here at Beacon for several months now. I was accepted Ozpin who knew of my past and promised it wouldn't be a problem. He told Atlas head master that I was killed in an accident and they bought it. So to the rest of the world the Pursuer of Death was dead. I was placed on a solo team but by the end of my first day I had already made so many more friends I felt like I belonged for once. And the one that helped me the most was Weiss. I opened up to her and her alone when we studied in my room away from the noise of the others. We would study then I would open up a little at a time to her about how I became who I was.

Weiss: "Really? You killed the previous owners of all your equipment?"
(Y/n): "Yup I was told by my father before he died they were stolen from my family and belonged together no matter what."
Weiss: "Wow... That's just... Wow how old were you when this all happened?"
(Y/n): "I don't know maybe... 7 or something I don't like remembering about it." I said sitting on my bed staring at my trembling hands. I had been trying to wash away all the deaths I caused but nothing worked. I felt her sit beside me as she wrapped her arms around me  pulling me into a warm embrace. I hugged back as my body shook in fear as she tried to soothe me.

(Y/n): "I'm sorry you have to deal with this Weiss..."
Weiss: "Please I would do anything to help you. You dont understand how much you mean to me."
(Y/n): "W-What do you mean?"
Weiss: "Y-Your not gonna make a girl say it are you?" She asked as I stared at her confused. I watched a blush spread across her face growing bright red as she looked away. I didn't understand why she was acting like this cause I grew up in a military dominated community before I was ordered to move out before it was destroyed.

Weiss: "I... I love you (Y/n) you opened up to me and let me help with your broken psyche. If your still troubled by the screams I'm always gonna be here for you." She said kissing my cheek as I blushed slightly looking at her. She smiled as I did as well softly placing my hand under her chin. I lifted it up slightly as I softly pressed my lips against hers as she happily returned the kiss holding onto me. We stayed like this for several moments before pulling away staring at each other.
(Y/n): "Weiss I never want to be apart from you. Never I want to be your knight and protector. If that means to love someone then I love you too Weiss. Please never leave me."
Weiss: "I would never dream of it ever."
(Y/n): "How about you spend the night here instead of with the others. That way I can know not everything in my life was a mistake."
Weiss: "Anything for you." She said as we laid back cuddling together as I slowly closed my eyes.

I prepared for the screams of terror and agony begging for their lives. But all i heard was Weiss saying I love you and felt her warmness. I sighed happily slowly falling asleep peacefully for the first time in a while. Me a broken warrior finding comfort in the coldness. The coldness of Beacons ice queen. But no one can convince me she is cold to everyone after how she has treated me since i met her. Not a day went by when I didn't get a visit from her.
