Eclipse XXVII

We heard the explosion and then all ran towards it. When we were able to see McDonalds past the trees in the parking lot, I saw flames coming from a window. It sounded like a small explosion, but there was a chunk of the wall missing. I noticed it was where Melanie and I were sitting before. I sighed, knowing it had something to do with Melanie. She probably got mad at a customer or a co-worker or something and lost control of her powers for a second.

"What the heck happened there?" Leo asked as we all ran over there.

"Who knows?" Jace replied as we reached the door.

I covered my mouth with my shirt so I wouldn't breathe in any of the smoke of the fire. I noticed all of us did, except Leo. I didn't say anything though.

We went in and the smoke detectors were going off, and employees were rushing around, trying to calm down customers and put the fire out.  Nico looked at a burning Happy Meal and looked as if he was remembering something. No one was hurt, thankfully, although Melanie was covered in soot and was just standing there next to what looked like Shawn through the smoke that hung in the air.

I stomped up to them and grabbed them by the wrists. They looked very confused as I dragged them outside. Jace followed us out, but I stopped him.

"I need to talk to these two in private please, if you wouldn't mind." I said and he nodded and walked back inside to help put out the fire.

I turned back to Shawn and Melanie. "What on earth did you two do?"

Melanie sighed and said "Don't ask. Who's the guy who was staring at the Happy Meals?" she gestured to Nico, who was standing in front of a window staring at us.

"Leo's friend Nico. He's kind of creepy huh?" I smiled. "Just like you."

She scowled at me and punched my arm. "I'll take that as a compliment."

"Then why'd you punch me?" I glared at her.

"Because it's fun." she said and crossed her arms.

"So cool!" a voice squeaked from next to us. I looked down and saw it was Shawn who looked like he was fanboying.

Melanie noticed him there too. "Oh uh thanks I guess."

I smiled at him. "Why thank you."

Leo, Nico, and Jace walked out through the hole in the wall. An employee started yelling at them for it, saying how it wasn't safe and that they should've gone through the door instead. The fire was gone and they were now covered in soot. So I was the only one who didn't look like they just came out of a chimney on Christmas Eve.

I laughed at all of them. They all looked ridiculous like that. "You all look fabulous."

They all exchanged mischievous looks. I was confused until they all came and gave me a huge group hug, which also covered me in it. I groaned, looking down at myself as they pulled away grinning.

"Why must you do this to me?" I asked and they laughed.

Melanie looked at me and Shawn. "Ok now before the cops come we need to talk. Let's go."

The others had confusion plastered on their faces. "Talk about what? You two usually try to avoid each other as much as possible." Jace said. "And who is this kid?"

"Yeah well this is important." she grabbed our wrists and pulled us away to the movie theater parking lot instead. "Where can we talk in private?"

"My house should be good." I said and she nodded. "You know where it is." I looked at Shawn. "How did you get here, or do you need a ride?"

"I rode here with Melanie. Can I ride with you again?" he looked at her with a puppy dog face.

Usually she was immune to the puppy dog face, but this time she sighed and said "Yeah, whatever."

We walked back to the McDonalds parking where my motorcycle was. I looked at her car and laughed.

She glared at me. "What are you laughing at Nightshade?"

"Just your car doesn't fit your personality." I continued laughing and pointed at her sky blue convertible with flower stickers all over it and it also had some dents and scratches on it.

She looked at the stickers. "My little sisters put those there, and they wont come off now. It's not my fault." she defended.

I rolled my eyes. "Yeah, sure they did."

She growled at me "Look if you wanna go into this, I can definitely-"

She was cut off by the sound of Leo and Jace bursting into laughter, looking at her car.

"That's the scary and mean Melanie's car?" Leo laughed, pointing at it.

Melanie just glared at all of us. "Well when you're done laughing Nightshade, you know where I'll be."

"Race ya there." I challenged.

"Fine, but I'll win." she got in her car and Shawn followed.

"Where are you guys going?" Nico asked, walking up to us with a Happy Meal.

"Oh just to-" I was cut off by Melanie.

"None of your business Valdez." She said and started to drive away. "And Nightshade, looks like I'm winning already."

I quickly hopped on my motorcycle. "Later guys." I called to the boys and drove off after her.

We raced to my house and I won. (Mostly because I took some off-road paths there)

When we got there, I could practically hear Shawn around the corner of my street fanboying about how he was coming to my house and he couldn't believe it. When they finally got there, he wouldn't shut up about all of it. He was just so excited to be hanging out with us. I didn't mind too much, but it got annoying after a while.

I walked in to see my little brothers passed out on the couch and a huge bowl of candy sitting in front of them. They probably ate too much and sugar-crashed while watching TV. I laughed a little and covered them with a blanket.

Melanie stared at them and smiled. "They look like my sisters. Passed out with candy."

"Yup now let's go find Brandon." I said walking past the couch carefully.

"Why do we need to find him? I thought it was just us talking." Shawn said and I thought some things over.

"Yeah you're right, let's not tell him about it. It could cause problems." I said, going upstairs to my room where we could talk without my brothers finding out about what we were talking about.

They followed me into my room and we started talking about the nightmare we had all had.

(A/N) Sorry I didn't update, I was sick for a while, and couldn't but I feel better now. I'm back so lets hope I can actually update on time for once.
