Some unfamiliar object was around my waist when I woke up. I was confused until I remembered the night before and realized it was just Tyler's arm. I laid there for a while, not wanting to wake him. Eventually he woke up too and pulled his arm off me. "Good morning, y/n. You sleep okay?" He kissed the side of my face and asked.
"Yea, I slept fine. You?"
"Yea." We made awkward friendly conversation. I knew it was my first time sleeping in the same bed as someone, and I think it was Tyler's as well.
"Tyler, I was just wondering something," I remembered something his mom said the night before.
"What is it?"
"Last night, your mom said how you finally had a girlfriend to bring over, how did she know I was your girlfriend? We haven't told anyone, outside the people who were there."
He sighed, embarrassed. "Well, she and my dad have been referring to you as my girlfriend since that day we came home from the woods really late. I kept denying it but they wouldn't let up. So I just stopped denying it, and now you are so there's really no reason to convince them you aren't."
"Oh. I get it now." We both stood up and went back downstairs. His parents were both in the kitchen.
"Good morning, you two. Where are you off to?" His dad asked as we made our way to the door.
"I'm going to take y/n home. I should be back soon."
"You stay gone as long as you'd like. Just don't do anything you might regret." Tyler's face turned a bright shade of red as his mom said this. We started walking to my house, when I couldn't hold it in anymore. I was trying to keep myself from laughing but my efforts failed
"Just what is so funny?" Tyler stopped and asked.
"What your mom said, 'don't do anything you might regret.'" I repeated.
"So you think it's funny that my parents think I might do something... like that?"
"I'm sorry, but yes. I do think it's funny. You made it even funnier by blushing so much."
He looked away and started blushing even more. "You are so mean."
I stopped my laughter and put my hands on his face and turned him to face me. "I'm sorry. It was just cute how you reacted," I kissed him in hopes that he would forgive me.
"Okay, okay. I forgive you. Besides, I wasn't really mad. I just wanted you to kiss me." He smiled smugly.
"Oh, now look who's the mean one." Tyler stuck his tongue out at me like a little kid, and I did back. We approached my house where I saw Rayna sitting on the porch steps, smoking. "You know, smoking is bad for you." I called out to her. She immediately put it out and ran up to me.
"How can you be making jokes? Your brothers DIED yesterday, and here you are acting as if nothing happened. Do you just not care?" When she got in my face I could tell she had been crying.
I was furious at her accusations. I slapped her right across the face. "Are you fucking kidding me? Of course I care! Do you think that I'm not tore up over this? Gene had me by my hair! I had a gun to my head! I'm so sorry that I choose to hide my grief." The pissed look on her face disappeared into a more apologetic look.
"Y/n, I am so sorry. I-I didn't know he grabbed you. All I heard was he shot the twins and a few others. I am SO sorry." She tried to hug me but I pulled away.
"Don't touch me." I pulled Tyler by the hand into my house and slammed the door behind us. We went downstairs and into my room. I closed my door and sat down with my back against it and started crying again. Tyler sat next to me and put his arm around me. I wiped my tears away and turned to Tyler. "I'm sorry you keep seeing me like this."
