We both stood at the edge of the woods, speechless. Tyler was the first to break the silence. "What are my parents doing here?" His voice was shaky as if he were utterly terrified.

"I-I don't know. What are my parents doing here?" My voice was just as, if not more, shaky as Tyler's. We looked at each other and came to a non-verbal agreement that we would walk over there together, and hope we live. We slowly made our way over to the cars, Tyler to his, me to my own. I approached the car only to find that it was empty. Tyler came over to me and stated, "they must be inside. Oh no; my dad will be mad as both my father and my principal." I laughed nervously a bit. He might have it worse than I do. He tightly gripped my hand and we started for the front door of the high school. We walked in and saw our parents in the main office. I saw my mom, at first glance she looked worried, but once she noticed us, her worry turned to pure rage. My dad, on the other hand, was smiling. He seemed to get a kick out of this. Both of Tyler's parents were a mix of worry, relief and anger. They all four walked out of the office door and into the hallway to meet us.

"Y/N M/N L/N! Where have you been? I said be home in time for dinner, and here you are at 7:20! And why did you say you were helping a teacher, when you were really out with some boy?!"

I tried not to show my immense fear. "Calm down, mom. For your first question, we were out in the woods, for your sec-" She cut me off.

"THE WOODS?! WHAT WERE YOU DOING OUT THERE? I DID NOT RAISE YOU LIKE THIS!"

"Mom, I am trying to answer your questions. For your second question, I lied because I knew you would react like this if I said 'Mom I'm going to the woods with a boy you've never met.' And as for what we were doing out there, drinking juice boxes and I was listening to Tyler play his ukulele." My dad decided now was a good time to butt in.

"Uh huh. Suuuurreee. Wow, first day of high school and you are already sneaking off into the woods with an older boy. You even surpassed Rayna! I don't know if I should be angry or proud!" Older? He's only  8 months older than me. I decided to keep that thought to myself.

"Francis, this is not the time to be making jokes! As for you, young lady, you are grounded for... for... for until college!"

"For until college?!  You can't do that! I was only out for like an extra hour! I'm sorry, we lost track of time. I was paying more attention to Tyler playing the ukulele than the time." My dad seemed surprised.

"Wait you were serious about the ukulele thing?"

"Francis!" Everything my dad said only angered her more and more.

"Oh, lighten up, Julia! We know she's a good kid, if that is what she said happened, that is what happened. Yes she should be punished for staying out so late, but not so severely." My dad was a jokester, but he really was the voice of reason among the family.

My mother sighed. "Oh I suppose you're right. I'm sorry, y/n. But you are still grounded for two weeks. No phone, no T.V., no video games, and dishes every night." I knew I couldn't do any better, so I went with this and didn't push my luck. Tyler came over after his parents chastised him.

"Um, Mr. and Mrs. L/n? It really is my fault. I asked y/n to go with me out there to my- my fort," he seemed embarrassed when he got to the word fort, "and I kept her sidetracked so it's my fault she didn't come home in time."

"No, Tyler you can't take the blame for this, it wasn't just you, I could've left but I didn't. And I already got my sentence reduced, don't push the envelope."
