"Okay, you need to stop putting yourself in situations where you end up getting a gun aimed at you. It's high time, Bhai," Trisha glares at me.
I roll my eyes. "Okay, granny."
"Watch your tone!" Trisha and Daniel both shout at the same time. They book look at each other and I can see a spark between them and it quickly dies out as they awkwardly break eye contact.
"Woah," I raise my arms, "piling up against me, huh?"
Leril clears her throat. "Then what happened?"
I look at her as she presses the tips of her thumb together and fidgeting with her nails. She's been fidgeting a lot from the time she came here. She's nervous. God knows for what. I snap out of the thoughts and continue.
"I convinced him that you also take drugs and you're not a cop who was assigned to capture him. He looked pretty convinced when he took the gun off my head. And then you called. So, I gave the phone to him. I don't know what you said but he seemed pretty satisfied with your words. Impressed, even. What did you say?"
He smirks. "That will lie between me and him alone."
"That sounds so wrong and inappropriate," Leril teases and we laugh shortly.
"Okay, haha, so funny. I just used some street terms I've studied and created the impression that I am a regular user," Daniel says, gritting through his teeth.
"That seemed to work on him. Anyways, he asked me to write the cheque in the name of Bloodline Organization."
Tri looks at me in confusion. "But why?"
"They are smart junkies. They get their money in the form of an organization that is a non profitable charity association on the outside. It supposedly helps provide blood to people who require it."
Trisha gasps.
"I'll trace that," Daniel says and types a message in his phone to someone.
"And then?" Leril asks.
I just shrug. "End of story."
"What do we do with the drug?" Tri asks.
We all look at the packet kept on the table. The packet that contained lustrous sin that made people forget reality and dive into their own air castle, even if it's temporary. I would not have objected the idea of that sin at all if Stephanie had died any other way.
I immediately regret thinking like that. I'd rather have the pain of the reality instead of the state that this piece of Satan can give me. I choose memories of Stephanie, not ways to escape it.
The packet seems vile and disgusting to me. And I know exactly what to do with it.
"I know what to do with it," I say and reach for the packet.
"Okay, alright. Just be careful," Leril says and excuses herself when her phone rings.
"I'll drop by tomorrow. I have errands to run," she says and walks out in a silent hurry. Something's definitely off about her today. I would soon have to talk to her about it.
"I gotta go too. Have a new clue to work on," Daniel says and leaves after planting a kiss on Trisha's cheek. Right in front of me. Bastard.
Tri blushes and bids him bye. "Geez, will you relax? It was a friendly kiss!" She says before I even opened my mouth.
"Is that piece of information for me or for yourself?" I ask and she blushes harder and swats my arm before getting inside her room for the night.
Like I've felt all these times, I'm happy that she's happy and I hope Daniel knows what he wants. Otherwise he has my fist to answer to.
