Pregnant daughter (part 3)

*20 weeks*

You rested your head against Lauren's shoulder as the three of you waited in the waiting area of your local hospital. It was Ava's 20 week scan to check that everything was good and to find out the gender of her baby.

"I'm so nervous ma." Your daughter mumbled, fumbling with her fingers.

"Everything's going to be fine princess." Lauren reassured, placing her hand on Ava's knee.

A few more minutes passed, then a doctor came around the corner, looking to everyone in the waiting area.

"Ava Jauregui?" She spoke up.

You stood from your seat, Lauren following and reached your hand out for Ava's. "This is it darling."

The doctor smiled and started to turn on the spot. "This way." She said sweetly.

The three of you followed the professional down the corridor and into the examination room.

Once you were all in the room, the doctor encouraged you all to take a seat and introduced herself. "Hi nice to meet you, i'm Dr Addison Montgomery and i'll be your doctor throughout your pregnancy."..."i'm here to answer any questions, and take care of you and the baby's medical needs throughout each trimester."

Ava listened intently to her doctor and shook her hand. "nice to meet you, i'm Ava and these are my parents."

"parents? I thought you guys were sisters." The red head announced, moving to shake your hands.

You giggled at her words, and shook her hand politely. "I like you already!"

You sat nervously at the edge of your seat and watched as the professional sat on hers. "okay, so lets meet your baby." She said happily, preparing all of the equipment.

"shall i lay on here?" The teen asked, pointing to the medical bed.

Addison nodded and Ava climbed onto the crisp white sheets. You gave her a reassuring smile to calm her nerves, then the doctor shuffled closer with all of the tools and scanning machine. Lauren reached out to take Ava's hand and wrapped her free arm around your shoulder. 

"Okay, Ava, this is going to be quite cold." 

You cringed at the thought of the next step, as you knew how cold the gel actually was, and felt sympathy when your daughter squealed.

"Sorry!"..."it's going to get better." Dr Montgomery assured, rubbing the gel onto her warm skin, before she turned back to the screen.

Then on the black and white monitor, came the image of your grandchild...you were not prepared for this moment. So, you instantly felt a wave of emotion and grasped at your wife's other hand.

Ava gasped at the sight of her baby, her mouth wide open and staring at the monitor.

"Is that?" She stuttered, looking at the screen with nothing but love and adoration.

"Here's your baby." The doctor confirmed, smiling at the teen.

You felt immense pride and a lump at your throat. You felt your eyes watering and then tears of happiness as you rested your head against your wife's shoulder. "Laur, that's our grand baby."

Lauren kissed your head and then you looked back to the doctor. Addison had a smile on her face, which was comforting, and she turned up the sound on the monitor.

"okay, so we have a good strong heartbeat, and everything looks perfect." the red head reassured with a huge smile, moving the machine over Ava's protruding bump.

The three of you were mesmerized by the sight of the baby on the screen, and listened intently to the sound of the heartbeat.

You heard an 'aw' from the doctor, and she looked to your daughter with a grin. "Do you want to know the gender?"

Ava looked to the doctor with wide eyes and nodded with enthusiasm. You wiped your emotional tears, and looked to the screen again.

"Congratulations, you're having a baby.....boy."
