New beginning (final part)

For the past twenty minutes you had been laid down on your bed, staring up at the ceiling, mainly processing everything that had just happened.

You closed your eyes, when you heard the familiar creak of your bedroom door opening.

"Can I come in?" You heard a faint voice, making you turn your head.

You saw Lauren standing in the doorway, looking to you with hopeful eyes and you nodded in response.

She closed the door behind her and walked over to lay by your side on your bed.

"I'm sorry." You both said in sync, then giggled at saying it at the same time.

"Everything is going to be okay."..."forget everything I said earlier." She mumbled, wrapping her arm around your shoulder and pulling you into her side.

You relaxed at her words and gave a soft smile, knowing that you had the best sister in the world.

"It's not weird for yo-"

"Hey! No way. You are not weird, everything is okay and I am here for you 1000%. I love you to the moon and back kid."

You looked to her with a smile, gently pushing her shoulder. "Less of the kid, but I love you too Lo."

A few minutes of peaceful silence later, Lauren turned her attention to you again.

"So, uhm, pronouns..." She spoke up, processing everything that was going on.

You nodded your head, "yep, so, I'm going by male pronouns." You explained and she nodded in understanding. "and, my uh, my name is now Jackson."

The room fell silent as she took everything in, then she put her hand on top of yours.

"Thank you." You whispered, appreciative of the effort that she was making.

"That's okay Jax, I want to understand so that I can be here for you."

At the use of the nickname, you gasped and she quickly looked to you. "Shit, did I say somethin-"

"No, no Laur, sorry! I was just surprised by you calling me Jax." You rambled, making her giggle.

Lauren smiled, and now it was her turn to push your shoulder, lightening the situation. "Well that's your name, isn't it?"

You smiled at her words, finally feeling accepted and like a weight had been lifted from your shoulders.

"Love you Lo."

"Love you too Jackson."
