TRIGGER WARNING
I slid down the bathroom wall, crying but satisfied. I gripped the knife in my right arm, now covered in deep red blood. The thick crimson liquid was everywhere. On the sink, some of the wall, and a little of the mirror. Then I heard the click of the front door open, and footsteps followed by voices.
"I can't believe that house was so expensive. It looked perfect to. So much room."
"I'm not spending 60 grand on the house," Max said.
"Then look for one that looks exactly the same," Ross countered.
"Yea but it's not that simple," Max answered.
"Shouldn't Maddy be home?" Tim asked.
I froze.
"Yea, where is she?" Ross asked.
I quickly got up and ran to the sink to clean up everything.
"Maddy?" Max asked knocking on the bathroom door. "Are you in here? I'm coming in..."
"Wait!" I exclaimed. "I'm-er about to take a shower.
I ran to the shower, and turned on the water.
"Shoot. My bad. Sorry," I heard footsteps slowly go farther away.
I sighed with relief. I cleaned up everything, hid the knife, and wet my hair so it looked more like I showered. But wouldn't it be weird to wear the same clothes? I frantically scanned the bathroom. Hanging on the hook of the door was a black sweatshirt with green eyes, and grey spots that made t looked like the top of a head. I threw that on after bandaging my arm, and walked out of the bathroom, hoping I didn't look like I was perfectly normal, whatever they was. I was about to go to my dresser when I bumped into Max.
"Oh," he said in surprise. His face turned slightly red. "Um, sorry for almost walking in on you." He put his hand on the back of his neck. "I didn't realize- wait." He studied the sweatshirt I was wearing. "Hey," he laughed a little. "Your wearing my sweatshirt."
"Oh," I started to take it off.
"No, no. It's ok. You can keep it." He said seating to smile a bit, while slightly still turning red. "I-it looks good on you."
"Oh," I said completely takin in surprise. "T-thanks."
"Let's go upstairs. Alesa's probably going to be back soon," Max took my hand and took me upstairs.
