<<Yes, I know. There are A LOT of Parent Project GMW fanfics. But I've worked very hard to make this my own unique version of it. So please give it a shot!>>

Maya Hart's POV

The first day of senior year.
The first day of boringness.
The first day of the prison called school.

But even worse, this might be the day that changes my already pathetic life.
You see, every year eight seniors from Abigail's High School are chosen for the job of a life time.

To become a parent.
And be married.
And be smart.
And responsible.

And let me tell you, I Maya Hart, am not that type of girl.
I guess I'll just have to wait and see...
I finish getting myself ready and head out the door.
What if this was the last time I actually.... lived here?

I shake the thought from my head and begin to walk over to Riley.
My thoughts continue buzzing throughout my brain. I arrive at Riley's in no time.
"Peaches!" She says with open arms.
"Honey!"

------------

"Welcome grade 12s, welcome back," Mrs. Houston says to the class.

I groan, along with a couple of other students. You can really feel the tension in the room. Everyone's nervous.
The only person that's not tense is Riley. But that's just because she's Riley, and Riley loves the idea of this project.
But I don't know if she's mature enough to handle it.

"So, I know why you're all tense, and I'm fine with that," She says. "However, that doesn't change the fact that I'm still following through with this project, like I do every year.

"For those that do not know, this will be called 'The Parent Project.'"
She writes it on the board with her neat handwriting.
"In this project, eight seniors will be drawn from a hat at random. Four girls, four boys. Then, these names will go to the principals office so that they can figure out the couples. That's just the first part."

And of course, Farkle decides to ask a question. Since, that's just what he does.

"Yes Farkle Minkus?"

"How long will the first part take? And where will the eight have to wait?" He asks.

"The pairings can take up to two hours. You teenagers wouldn't get it, but the teachers in this school must choose very carefully to make sure the couple work out."

"And what if they don't?" I ask out sarcastically.

"They never don't work Miss. Hart."

"Sure."

"As I was saying, after we pair you eight up, we get you to roll a dice to figure out how many kids you'll get and what their ages are-"

She gets interrupted again, this time by Lucas.

"Our fate is going to be controlled by a dice?"

"Well, it's not like we're gonna let you make the kids yourself-"

"Mrs. Houston!"

"What does she mean by-" Riley begins.

"Honey, don't ask those kind of questions," I tell her.

"Okay."

"So, I guess I'll give you guys some time to think, the choosing will happen in fifteen minutes."

I immediately get up, and then run over to my group.

"If I get picked I swear-"

"I hope I get picked!" Riley squeals.
Sometimes, I just can't understand that girl.

"Riles, honey, you don't want to be chosen. You want a normal senior year without kids and husbands and stuff."

"But-"

I sigh, "No buts. Just trust me on this, okay?"

Lucas puts a hand on Riley's shoulder, "Maya's right Riles, you don't want this."

"She can have her own opinion," Farkle says. "It's not the end of the world if she does get chosen. Maybe it's what she wants."

"Ya!" Riley says. "Maybe it's what I want!"

"Wait," Lucas says. "Farkle you want to do this project?"

"If it mean marrying Riley then sure-"

"What?"

"Nothing. I said nothing."

I'm about to pester him some more, but then the dreaded speaker turns on.
"All students please report to the gym. It is now time to choose the eight."

---------

"Welcome everyone! Welcome to another year of highschool! Each of your teachers have explained what we're doing here today. So, shall we begin the choosing?"

The classes begin to cheer and clap. It's kind of annoying to me though. They seem to think that this whole project is fun and games.

"For our first parent of the year, we have," She sticks her hand into a bowl.
Not Maya Hart, not Maya Hart. Please not Maya Hart.
"Isadora Smackle."

You can hear her sigh, and she walks up to the stage.

"Welcome to the Parent Project."

Smackle sits down in the first chair, she crosses her arms and frowns.

"Second of the eight is," She sticks her hand in again. "Farkle Minkus!"

That makes Smackle smile, Farkle walks calmly up to the stage and takes his place next to her. She takes his hand.

"The third," She takes the next slip of paper. "Riley Matthews!"

Riley squeals and runs to the stage. Of course she was excited.
Like everyone else, she sits in her seat.

"Lucas Friar."

He groans, and gets up.

"Hey Huckleberry," I say. "Don't worry, your kids can just have the nicknames now."

"Maya, just... just don't."

I'm about to apologize, cause I feel bad. But he's already sitting next to Riley.
Well, I guess she'll be Riley Friar.

I start to calm down a bit. Only four more people are going to be chosen. I will not be one of them.
I smile as names get called that aren't me.
Zay.
Sarah.
Charlie.

One more, and that one more is not going to be me. There are 56 seniors and only eight people get chosen.
So the last person isn't going to be me.

"And now, the last person to join the Parent Project is....."
Not me. It will not be me.
"Maya Hart."

-----------

Hey guys! Here's a new book!
I hope you all like it! You guys probably can tell that I'm better at writing in third person, but I figured I'd write this like this.
I'll start to write the second chapter once I get 20 votes.
