27. Girl Meets Cousin (Part One)

After a very awkward and swearing chapter 26... let's go back to my rarely swearing clean book.

Maya Hart's POV

"Hey," Josh sighs.

"Hey," I smile.

He kisses my cheek, and I let him.

Yes, my boyfriend is Joshua Matthews.

"Riley updated me about her 'parent project.'"

Another thing to know about Joshua Matthews, he doesn't know I participated in the Parent Project.

"Ya?"

"Well," He sighs. "We had Farkle and her 'kids' and themselves over for dinner. They apparently had this announcement."

The way he sarcastically said kids killed me.

"Why are you saying kids as," I ask, making my fingers into quotation marks. "Kids."

"Because," Josh says, wrapping his arm around my waist. "It's not like they actually their kids. They are projects. That's why they call it 'The Parent Project.'"

I try not to get mad, but I really an. It's not okay, the way he referred to the project.

Oh yes, there may have been one more tiny detail I forgot to mention.

"The project is so dumb. They give kids this false hope that they can be loved, when really they aren't ever gonna be put in a real family. They get stuck with a bunch of immature parents like Riley."

He had no respect for the Project. He didn't care about the kids, he thought of them as robots.

"That's not necessarily true," I begin.

"Do you want to know the news?"

"Sure."

"She had stomach cancer," Josh begins.

"Has," I correct.

"No, had," Josh says. "Actually no, she never had it."

"What do you mean?" I ask.

Why did Riley fail to tell me this?

"Apparently," He replies. "A doctor diagnosed her wrong."

"What?!"

I truly am enraged now. Someone caused pain to my little Peaches by lying to her, and she failed to notify me.

"Guess what."

"What?!"

"She's actually five months pregnant."

My jaw drops, and I climb out of his arms.

"Where are you going?" He asks.

"To see Riley!"

Lucas Friar's POV

"Here comes the airplane!" I say in a high pitched voice.

Grace giggles, and waves her hands in the air.

"Right into your mouth!"

Smack.

She smacks the green baby food off the spoon. It lands right on my face.

For the fifth time.

"What's wrong Dad?" Lizzy asks, giggling. "Having trouble feeding Gracey? Beth is doing perfectly fine as you can see. Thanks to my great feeding skills."
