39. Girl Meets Distractions.

Screaming.

Again.

I sigh as I get up, and shake Lucas awake.

"Fire-"

"Not here," I yell back. "

It's been like this for a month now.

I thought it was going away, since he hadn't had the nightmares for the three days before the wedding. But they came back.

Worse.

I don't know what to do anymore.

He's so hurt, and I can't help him.

Gosh, nothing ever goes my way.

It took us nine months of fighting and arguing to finally get to where we are, and something bad has already happened.

The kids have been with Zay and Sarah for a week, Lucas' screams were terrifying them.

I go and visit at least twice a day, he tries to come at least once every two days.

"Maya, run!" He screams out loud.

I get on top of him, and slap him hard in the face three times.

"Maya!" He screams again. "It's behind you!"

I don't know what to do, I don't know how to help him.

Nothing ever seems to work.

So I kiss him, and almost immediately, he sighs in relief.

"Is it gone?" I ask, wrapping my arms around his neck.

He's panting and sweating, and slowly nods his head.

"I'm sorry," I whisper. "I'm sorry you have to go through all this."

He just nods, trying to calm himself.

I get off of him, and walk over to the window, opening up the blinds.

The May sun shines through, and I can hear the birds singing a beautiful chorus of symphonies.

God, that's so cheesy.

But being cheesy is the least of my worries.

"What do you want for breakfast?" I ask, quickly grabbing my phone off the nightstand.

He doesn't respond.
