Maya Friar-Hart's POV
I put her down into the car seat in our new car. It's got seven seats in it instead of five.
Lizzy sings a song from the orphanage on the way home. Isaac sits in between his two little sisters and plays peek a boo with them.
One of the twins, the one Lucas held, in the purple, lays sound asleep.
My little girl, the one that I felt a connection with, stares up at the toys in awe.
"Daddy?" Elizabeth says.
"Yes Lizzy?" Lucas says with a smile.
"I'm hungry. What'a for lunch?"
He turns over to me. "Wanna go out?"
"You're not my type."
We both laugh quietly, trying not to wake up our purple twin.
"Ya sure," I say. "Where to?"
"Five guys?"
"Ya, sure," I say.
"We're gonna go out for lunch. Have you ever went to a restaurant?"
"No," Lizzy says in her sing-song voice.
"Oh, you'll like it," Lucas says. "Now can we lower the volume? Bethany is sleeping."
"Which baby is Bethany?" She whispers back.
Isaac finally raises his voice. He barely talks.
"Bethany is purple."
"That's right Isaac," I say.
"Good remembering bud," Lucas says with a smile.
Man, Lucas really loves these kids. And surprisingly, they bring the Riley side of me out.
"What's her name again?" Elizabeth asks in a quiet voice.
I smile and the four of my kids. Then reply, "Grace."
"Grace and Bethany Friar," She says.
"What's our whole family?" Isaac asks.
Lucas smiles at me. "Well, we have Daddy Friar, Mommy Friar, Elizabeth Friar, Isaac Friar, and Grace and Bethany Friar."
"I love it!" She says with a smile.
Elizabeth honestly reminds me of Riley and myself. She's got this bold and happy personality like Riley, and she loves to put her opinion out there like me.
Lucas pulls the car into the parking lot of five guys and parks.
"So how are we doing this?" He asks me.
"Gosh," I reply. "I don't know if I can even carry one of those carriers without dropping them."
"I'll take the twins, you can take Isaac and Lizzy. Make sure they hold your hands."
"You can carry both of them?" I ask.
"Of course I can baby. I'm all muscle."
I guess this is one of our get along days.
But I promise myself here and now that we'll never argue in front of these kids. They've already had hard enough lives.
When we got each of their forms, they said why they were in the orphanage.
Elizabeth was wandering the streets of New York for a week by herself. Apparently her Mother just left her there.
Isaac was taken from a family that had abused him until he was four. That's why he's scared very easily. We have to be very gentle with him.
