Chapter 18

After Jae Eun had left Jungkook and everyone else in the hall dumbfounded, they were completley different towards her.

Jae Eun walked into class, and saw Jungkook at his normal place, sitting a couple of seats away. She sat at her desk which was 2 seats behind him, and it gave her the perfect view to look at him from his side profile.

Usually, he would give her sweet smiles or take quick glances. But today he sat there in his seat, looking more pale and fragile than normal. Eyebags were formed under his eyes and he kept his head down the entire time.

He's probably just a little sick...

Jae Eun took the chance to pay attention in class without Jungkook distracting her. 

Classes went on for a whole week and they were all the same, but at the same time, she noticed a few things.

When she walked into the canteen, BTS would all be sitting together eating, mostly talking and laughing away. Once Jungkook spotted her, his smile would disappear and he would walk out of the canteen.

Jae Eun thought that he didn't want to see her around, so she took her normal place under the benches in the sports hall. Moving the equipment out of the way, she would take a seat and quietley eat her lunch.

~Few days later~

"Ok class, we have studied the whole topic together, so it's time for you to do some research on your own,"

The whole class groaned, knowing what was coming next.

"I'm assigning you a group project that you have to complete in 1 month, and I've already picked your groups,"

Everyone groaned louder and some cursed under their breath.

"Okay, first group," the teacher held a paper in her hand.

"ByungHo, DaeJung, EunJi and HaYun," the group hurdled together around EunJi's desk, since she was a queenka.

"Next group," the teacher continued as Jae Eun sighed loudly.

"SooHyun, Jae Eun, Jungkook and Hye Mi," Jae Eu sat there, completley shocked yet annoyed with her group.

First was Soo Hyun, the girl she wishes were dead, Jungkook, who was her bully but is now acting weird, and Hye Mi, who is her ex- bestfriend.

Someone kill me already...

They all came and sat around Jae Eun without her noticing. Soo Hyun just shot her a dirty look and the other two minded there own business.

The teacher finished announcing the groups and told us to start the project.

First it was awkward, because no one spoke a word and Jae Eun kept on recieving dirties from Soo Hyun. So to progress with the project, Jae Eun started the conversation.

"So, what historical place should we do?" 

Jungkook's head shot up, and he studied her face. Jae Eun looked away and Soo Hyun noticed the tension between them.

"Oppa! Let's go somewhere tonight, just to relax because you look so stressed out," Soo Hyun pouted and carassed the side of his face.

Both Jae Eun and Hye Mi cringed at that. Even though they weren't friends anymore, they still had a lot in common.

Jungkook looked at her and gently put her hand on her lap. "I don't feel like it, I'd rather work on the project," he moved his eyes to Jae Eun, who was fiddling with her fingers.

"Bu wae??? Jebal, lets go somewhere," Soo Hyun pouted even more and started jumping in her chair.

"I said no," Jungkook was firm in his tone.

Soo Hyun muttered something under her breath and walked out of the class.

"I was thinking of doing 'The Forbidden City' in China because it seems cool," Hye Mi recommended to change the topic which was forgotten in an instant. 

They all agreed, nodding their heads.

"Do we have to meet up somewhere?" Hye Mi asked.

"I don't know, do you want to?" Jungkook said. 

"Tommorow, at the school library, at 5:00pm," Jae Eun stated, making them surprised by her firmness.

"I'll do all the research, you can put it all together in a presentation, and you can make a sculpture of the city," Jae Eun said, and that left them set on what they were going to do.

The bell rang for the class, and they all left, leaving Jae Eun walking home alone once again.

Once she was at home, she felt kind of relieved that not too much happened today, but felt a little nervous about tommorow.

How was she going to cope with Jungkook and Hye Mi there? Is it going to be awkward again?

She flopped onto her bed, and heard her mom call her for dinner.

Jae Eun got up and went to eat, before falling asleep on her bed, wondering off into dreamland.
