A funny ringing sound had exploded in her ear, making her shoot right up. Blinking a few times, her eyes adjusted to the light and she saw a familiar figure in front of her, staring right at her.
Her vision was regained and she was shocked to see what was in front of her. Jungkook sat there, smiling at her sleepy face. Jae Eun was confused, and looked around her, realizing she wasn't at her home, but in the first aid room in the prison.
She thought she had walked home the night before, but was mistaken. She must've dreamt that part.
Not with the dreams again...
Her thoughts were interrupted when a pair of milky, white fingers were in front of her, snapping her out of thought.
"Earth to Jae Eun," Jungkook said like a child, chuckling at the end.
"How am I...When did I....I don't even know," she gave up questioning the situation.
"I woke up, and I found a little head resting on my stomach," he patted his stomach and looked at her.
"Oh...I didn't realize," she whispered.
"It was cute, you worrying about me, staying over night," he lowered his head, trying to make eye contact.
Jae Eun quickly glanced at him, and looked down again, blushing. "I didn't mean too, I thought I went home," she quickly added.
Jungkook smiled and pulled her into a hug. "Thanks, for worrying about me,"
She was taken back by his action, and hesitated hugging him back, even though she was longing for a warm embrace in forever. Her hands were in the air, close to his back, wanting to hug him tighter, but she held them back. She didn't know what to do.
The decision was made, and she was the first one to pull back. She noticed the disappointment that filled his face, and thought of an excuse.
"You don't need me worrying about you...you have your...mom to worry," she straightened up, feeling a little awkward.
His face darkened and he sat up. "Mom..."
Jae Eun looked up at him. His head was down and his skin was pale again. She didn't know what to say at his sudden change, and contemplated her decision. But he ended up making it easier for her.
"I wish I could make her worry about me," his voice sounded sad, a little too sad.
Has something happened between them? Wait...IS SHE DEAD??? SHIT
Jae Eun gasped at the thought and covered her mouth with her hands.
"Is she-" she started, but he figured out her question.
"Nope, she isn't dead. Well, to other people she isn't, to me she is," he started, planting a fake smile on his face.
"What do you mean?" she looked at his sad eyes, and he returned it. He hesitated for a moment, but then noticed the eagerness in Jae Eun's eyes, wanting to know.
"She's never really cared about me, since I started highschool," he looked down and fiddled with his thumbs. He paused after that and silence filled the air, whilst Jae Eun just looked at him. Saddness was apparant in his voice and she didn't want to force him to say any more.
But it reminded her of her parents, and how they barely payed attention to her in school. They just told her to do good in school and never really comforted or praised her. She felt upset by the thought.
I guess we have a few things in common..
"During the first year of highschool, my dad died, and out of the frustration, she left me, saying that it was my fault he died," a tear fell from his eye, and it was the first time that she had seen him cry.
"You don't have to tell me," Jae Eun tried to say in a comforting tone. As if he didn't hear her, he carried on.
"I was left alone at the house, and BTS came to live with me. Jin took care of us and it was hard at first, trying to handle my dad's death and my mom," his voice started becoming shaky and he more tears escaped, streaming down his face.
He looked away, trying to hide them, but it was no use. Jae Eun took his hand, and massaged it, trying to comfort him. He didn't dare to spare a glance at her, and she didn't force him to.
"And then I started to bully you," he choked out the words, and looked at her with pleading eyes.
Realization hit Jae Eun, and she was brought back to reality. She looked at her hand on his, and slowly removed it. But he didn't let her go.
Jungkook grabbed her wrist harder and pulled her towards him. She was shocked and looked at him in confusion.
"I'm sorry, and it was stupid of me,"
Jae Eun heard the regret in his voice and took a seat right next to him, and still, he didn't let go of her hand.
"I saw how you were always so happy with your friends, how your grades were always good, how you had a good bond with your parents, and I hated seeing it. I was so jealous of you, so I ended up taking you out of heaven and I threw you into hell,"
It all made sense to her now. Jae Eun finally understood him. Even though it was because of jealousy, she finally understood him and his actions. It was hard for him in the past, being neglected by the person a teenager had to trust the most, and having one of them leave you at a young age.
She knew the feeling of being alone and no one caring about whether you were dead or alive. Jae Eun was a little happy that he finally had the guts to say sorry, but now she didn't know how to comfort him.
She took both of his hands and turned turned his head towards her. Slowly wiping the tears from his face, doing her best to comfort him, she said, "It's okay," and those two words removed the burden off of him. The pain and guilt he had for years was all taken away.
He closed his eyes, and enjoyed her comfort, and pulled her into a hug, resting his head on her shoulder. Jae Eun didn't mind and hugged him tighter, trying to bring all of his broken pieces together. Both of them had been tortured for years, and at that moment, it was as if a new path was opened up for them.
Jae Eun felt her shoulder become damp and she stroked the back of his neck. Quiet sobs came from him, and soon enough, she heard herself cry.
After a few minutes, they heard the door open and they both pulled apart from each other. A policeman stood at the doorway, the one from the night before, and he looked relieved.
"Jeon Jungkook, you're being bailed out,"
