Classes were boring, the teachers blabbering on about the history of Korea and Shakespeare. Jae Eun couldn't concentrate well in classes, and found herself playing with little pieces of string from her clothes, or her fingers under the table. She stayed quiet and barely did anything each lesson, as SooHyun kept on running through her mind.
What if she kills me? How do I deal with this? Will she leave me alone?
In some lessons, she didn't talk to anyone and bizarrely, Soo Hyun's friends didn't bother her either. They were probably up to something. In her history class, it felt awkward as tension rose in the air.
Jungkook sat a few seats away and he kept his head forward, instead of turning around to Jae Eun, making her giggle by his silly faces and getting in trouble for it. She waited for him to even glance at her, but he didn't, sending disappointment in return.
At the end of the lesson as everyone was getting ready to run to the canteen, the teacher sat everyone back down.
"Okay, for this term, I wanted to change up your seating plan because there is going to be a lot more partner work,"
Hearing that, Jae Eun panicked because she wasn't good at talking with people and she hated partner work.
"So, I will read two names out and you will be sitting with each other for the rest of the year," she said, and started calling out names. An entire list was read out and there were a few groans because they didn't like their seat partner.
"Sora and Min Seok,"
"Dae Huk and Ae Jung,"
"Hye Mi and Jungkook,"
"Taehyung and Jae Eun,"
Jae Eun felt a little relived that she didn't have to sit next to someone she didn't know, but at the same time frustrated because she was going to get interrogated by Taehyung.
Taehyung jumped from his seat and turned around to Jae Eun, showing off his rectangular smile. Jae Eun moved up a little and he plopped next to her. He stared at her until Jae Eun turned her head to face him.
"What?" she asked.
"Did you fight with Jungkook in the morning?" he asked in a serious tone.
Jae Eun hesitated a little and didn't really know if she did fight. She felt a bit stupid and regretted what she said to Jungkook. He didn't expect it and out of anger, she blurted that out. It was completley irrelevant and he just wanted to comfort her.
"I don't know. but I was angry for no reason and I think I hurt him," she admitted, her head hung low.
"Good you admitted it, because he is a little frustrated right now," he said, and he faced the front.
The teacher finished assigning seats and dismissed the class. Taehyung was fiddling with his phone and waited for the end of the lesson. They were packing up their things and Taehyung turned to glance at Jae Eun.
"Oh, and I heard that you and Jungkook kissed last night," he grinned and ran off.
"Yah! How do you know that!" she screamed. She packed up her bag and followed him out of the classroom.
She couldn't spot him anywhere in the crowd of people and she looked everywhere to fight the familiar light brown-haired boy. But she felt a tight grasp on her wrist.
It turned her around and took her to the stairs that led to the rooftop. It was Jungkook, and he seemed cheerful from his side view instead of frustrated.
What was going on? I thought he was frustrated.
He made her run up the stairs and they reached the rooftop. Pulling her to the side near the balcony, he sat her down with force and he pulled out bento boxes.
"Bon appetit!" he said, and unpacked them.
Jae Eun was still in the state of confusion and she stared at his happy face. "W-What?" she questioned.
"Come on then! Eat! Jin hyung made it for us," he said, putting a piece of sushi in his mouth.
"But I thought you were frustrated," she said, and he laughed at her.
"Frustrated? When?" he said, and Jae Eun's mind exploded.
"Because of the morn-," she was cut off.
"Taehyung texted me that said you admitted that you regretted what you said in the morning, so now I'M HAPPPPPYYY," he shouted, loud enough for the whole of Seoul to hear.
"Shut up! Pabo! You're so loud!" she whisper-shouted and he chuckled.
Jae Eun giggled and ate the food prepared in front of her. They talked and chatted for a while until a faint bell could be heard from the inside.
"Let's go," Jae Eun said, putting the boxes away.
They stood up and made their way towards the stairs, but a familiar slim figure stood in front of them.
Jae Eun looked at the face and her eyes widened.
