Jae Eun was limping her way home. She managed to put her t-shirt on and walked down the dark path.

She got home and found no one around. She walked up the stairs, one of her eyes swollen and bruises all over her body. There was a sticky note carefully placed on the handle.

I'll be back in 2 days. Your father wants to see me. Take care

Jae Eun just took the post-it note and threw it in the trash can. She locked herself in her bedroom.

Her stomach growled at her, but she didn't notice. Even though her body wanted to be fed, she didn't have the energy to even eat. She lay on her bed, motionless.

Staring at the ceiling blocked her out of the whole world. Her legs and arms had given up on her. Her normal skin colour wasn't visible. She was just brown and purple everywhere. The white milkiness of her skin had faded.

She closed her eyes, trying to remember any happy memory. But nothing came to her. Did she even have any happy memories stored in her brain?

Tears were streaming down her face, and after a few minutes, exhaustion over-took her, and she was dreaming away...

~In the morning~

Jae Eun found sunlight attacking her eyelids. She slowly tried to open her swollen eyelid, but felt it close again. She sat up, and her body was hurting all over.

Opening the door, she made her way down the stairs. Her body was giving up on her. It was near death, but Jae Eun forced it to move.

She finally made it to the kitchen and nibbled on a piece of toast.

Her stomach was hurting and dried blood covered her body. She sat on the sofa for a while before deciding to take a shower.

After a quick shower, she locked herself in her room. There were some ice-packs in the freezer, and she placed them on her body. She lay in her bed, letting the cold feeling travel around.

Staying there for a few hours helped her regain some energy. She sat up and looked in the mirror.

"Why am I their target?" she was talking to her reflection.

"Am I just weak and easy to take advantage of?" she was questioning her life.

Her face wasn't recognizable at all.

Maybe they won't notice I'm in school tommorow...

All she did was sleep the rest of the day, ignoring the calls she was getting from the secretary.

She just wanted some peace. Just a little. Was that too much to ask for?
