But...

It wasn't the Jungkook she knew...

Jae Eun stared at the figure for so long, eyes wide, jaw dropped. It was a sight she never thought she would see. Slowly walking up to the cell, she took a closer look. Jungkook didn't look at her, as his head hung low.

"J-Jungkook?" she stuttered a little, saying his name.

He looked up slowly and showed a lifeless smile. His face was completley white, he looked skinnier than ever, his eyes were bloodshot red and the smile he showed was painted on his face.

Jae Eun stared at him in awe as he slowly limped to the bars, opposite her.

"You c-came? I-I was wait-ting..." he showed a timid smile and his voice was hoarse, words barely audible.

Without thinking, she took his hand and placed another on his forehead. His eyes grew wide by her action, but he closed them, taking in the moment of comfort.

"What happened to you?!" she yelled at him, studying his face, looking for an answer.

He lightly chuckled, and took her hand. "Are you worried?" he grinned at her, the one thing that didn't change.

She took her hand back, a little flustered, but he pulled her closer, looking at her straight in the eye. "Did you?"

Jae Eun hesitated for a moment, but in a whisper, she answered his question.

"Maybe a little," she looked down, and she felt her cheeks go hot and pink.

"Thanks," he looked down at her hand and pecked it, leaving her in a state of shock.

His grin turned to a poker face and his eyes slowly shut, resulting in his limping and on the edge of fainting. Jae Eun reacted quick, and pulled him up by the arm, making him lean against the bars.

"Officer! Officer!" she screamed for help, and within a few moments, a man came running to her.

"What is it ma'am?" he asked in worry, and his eyes trailed to Jungkook, leaning unconciously against the cell bars.

He quickly grabbed his keys from his belt and fiddling with them against the lock of the door, walked inside, taking Jungkook by the waist. He was half dragging him. Jae Eun scurried behind them, taking Jungkook by the arm and wrapping it around her shoulders.

"I knew this would happen..." the officer mumbled, but Jae Eun was able to catch it.

"What? You knew he was going to faint?" she asked with a hint of anger in her voice.

The officer looked at her with pity in his eyes. "Yes, he hasn't been eating for the past few days, and he just stays in the corner of the cell with his head in his hand," he explained.

Jae Eun looked at Jungkook's sickly pale face and she felt tears forming up in her eyes.

Why did he do this? Is it because of the crime?

She looked away and blinked a few times, trying to make the tears diappear.

"So, he just hasn't been eating anything?" she asked for reassurance.

"No. When we put the plate of food in his cell, he rejects it and puts it on the outside of the cell, saying he doesn't deserve it," the officer looked to the ground, a little sadness apparant in his voice.

Jae Eun didn't know what to say and just wanted to hug Jungkook and tell him everything would be okay, but she didn't have the courage to do that.

"He keeps on repeating the same thing though. He wouldn't eat until she forgives him," he glanced up, looking at the little first-aid room.

No way... He's talking about me. I'm such an idiot...

Jae Eun couldn't control the tears and let the hot liquid fall down her cheeks. The officer took Jungkook and looked at Jae Eun who stood motionless.

"Are you okay ma'am?" he gazed at her.

"Yes. Is it okay for me to stay with him for a while?" she asked with watery puppy eyes.

"Go on," he left Jungkook on the bed and Jae Eun sat next to him. She studied his lifeless body and searched the room for a cloth. She wet it slightly and placed it gently on his forehead.

She sat next to him and took his hand, caressing his fingers, which were ice cold. Slowly leaning in, she had to urge to hug him, but couldn't find herself to do it. Jae Eun sat back with unsatisfaction, questioning why she couldn't do it.

But thinking about everything, she knew she had to bail him out. It was one of the thing she had to do.

After 2 hours of sitting there, she decided to go home. Informing the lady at the front of Jungkook, she left the police station, and headed straight home.

One thing was for sure. Her dad and Jungkook weren't staying there a night longer. She was making sure that it wouldn't happen.

And she even figured it out. They didn't intentionally do the crime, but were forced to, intimidated by the enemies, almost threatened.

But she had to find out the big question.

Why?
