One Small Step: In The Right Direction (part 2)

So this is the 2nd part of the 3 part chapter I'm doing it. The one is going to be in Hope's P.O.V for the first time ever. I probably will just keep it to Lainey's P.O.V once the story get doing though....

A anyway enough of me rambling READ ON!!!

Hope's P.O.V

Add this chemical with that chemical, and this organelle belongs with that cell. That's all that was running through my head as I waited for the decathlon to begin. To say I was nervous would be the understatement of the year.

Now I know what your thinking, "Oh gosh, she is such a nerd," but I truly am not. I may be smart in science but I don't own nerd glasses, I wear glasses, but not that kind. Usually, I wear contacts though, but I really like my glasses. During my time hear in Australia I've been doing really well in all my classes. Maybe not quite as good as Lainey has been doing in hers, but very impressively in my not so humble opinion. No, I'm not conceited either, but there is nothing wrong with having a burst of pride in yourself every once and while right?

I've missed Amber and Lainey SO much! And Emma seems amazingly hilarious; no wonder Lainey and her get along so well. If I do bad this round I get kicked out of the decathlon, but if I do good, ill move on to the next round. They are also giving away two spots to New York today to the two best competitors. I want to get one so bad, but Im most definitely not one of the best here.

Just like Lainey, I've found a new good friend, too. Actually I've found two: Kenna and Collin. Yes, Collin is a guy, no he is not gay. Yes, that means he is datable: no, I'm not interested at the moment. Everyone seems to ask me that about him and I so I'd figure I would just save you the confusion, don't mean to be rude. Kenna couldn't be apart of the decathlon due to some class work she has at the moment, but Collin came, he is pretty much a shoe in for one of those tickets to New York today. He has perfect grades!

"Alright contestants prepare to begin," said the host of the decathlon, snapping me out of my deep thoughts. "Oh good, your alive. You've been standing there with your deep thought face on for the last five minutes," joked Collin. I knew what he was doing. He was trying to keep the mood light, even if we were both drowning in a pool if nervousness. "And you would only know that if you were staring at me, right Collin?" I teased him, also trying to keep the mood light. He just chuckled and begin preparing.

"Is everyone ready?" Asked the host looking around. "Good, now you have fifteen minutes to make this chemical reaction, and GO!" Shouted the host after he saw everyone was ready. Surprisingly, the chemical reaction on the board seemed rather easy to me. The on,y downside was it seemed quite simple to a few others too. I immediately blocked everyone out and got to work. 7 quick minutes later I clicked my buzzer, notifying everyone I had finished. The audience politely clapped at my fast performance. The judges than observed my work. After they finished observing they all looked up at me with a look of awe on their faces. I don't see why, it wasn't like I was the first one done and correct.... Right?

After a further observation if my other competitors, I see that I actually was the first one done! Finally, one of the judges spoke up. "Wow, congratulations Ms.Summers! After seeing your VERY outstanding performance, we have decided you are most definitely going to New York." I began to hyperventilate once he finished speaking. Am I dreaming? I began pinching myself, and I didn't notice how hard I did until I saw blood on my finger. I also hadn't noticed that Collin had finished and judged until he came over and drug me out of the building.

Once I got outside I began to catch my breath and return to planet Earth. The first thing I saw was a very worried Collin. I caught his eye and exhaled a sigh of relief. "You really scared me for a minute there Hope! Please don't do that again?!" He exclaimed, not meanly, but truly concerned. I just apologized and laughed. When I stopped laughing I saw that Collin now had a look of excitement and joy on his face. "What are you so excited about?" I questioned him very suspiciously.

From behind his back he pulled something out. I was so shocked I hadn't even noticed he had been hiding something this whole time. But, what shocked me most was what he pulled out from behind him. In his hand was not ONE but TWO tickets to New York! "Wait, does is mean you won the other ticket?!" I screamed very loudly in his ears. Instead of yelling at me he simply nodded and picked me up. We began laughing and spinning around, if anyone else would have been watching us, they would have thought he just proposed, but really it was just to science geeks getting to go to New York City, baby!!!!

After we finished our little "moment" we decided to head back to our apartments, which happened to be across from each others. We spent the whole night packing. Once we were almost finished, Collin ordered us pizza. I knew your probably like "Whoa, wait you eat pizza in first of a boy?" The answer to that is, hell yeah! Have you met Amber, Lainey, or me? We don't care what others think if us, especially when we eat. We love our food, especially Amber believe it or not!

Two boxes of pizza, 1 movie, and our own little "concert" we were done packing. We sang so loud during our concert I'm surprised no one came and told us to shut up! And lets just say, Lainey is definitely the only singer in our trio that needs to be heard. "I'm done packing, how about you H?" Collin asked me as he walked in my bedroom. He also used the nickname him and Kenna came up for me. "Yep, just finished," I replied just as I finished zipping up my suitcase. Collin then proceeded to cannon ball on to my bed pulling me down with him. I simply laughed as he turned on the TV.

After a minute of flipping through the channels, he found one of the old Disney Santa Claus movies. We then snuggled up in the most innocent was possible. I know I only thought of him as a friend, and I'm sure him the same way towards me, but I couldn't help but notice I was enjoying this more than I probably should. But what girl wouldn't, right? Collin is definitely very handsome, and has a great personality. But we are just friends, and the feeling are mutual between both of us.... Right? With that last thought I drifted to sleep, my mine racing with a million thoughts. From Collin, to my best friends, to New York.....

Authors Note: What did you think? Btw I'm making Hopes last name Summers just so you know lol. I was to lazy to come up with a last name for her and Amber at the beginning. Amber's last name is going to be Green, okay? Yeah, I know I real original, but I'm tired right now so don't judge me lol. Tell me what you think people. PLEASE?!!!!??
