Nate returns to the Glowing Sea, and fought his way through its mutated horde of creatures. From fighting dozens of feral ghouls to the most feared beasts of the Commonwealth known as the Deathclaws, Nate conquered them all with the help of his Power Armor and tactics. All of that was over when he finally enters inside Virgil's cave. The super mutant scientist stood working on certain inventions on his table, only to see Nate return.

"Wasn't sure I'd see you again," said Virgil. "You managed to get what you need?"

"Yup," said Nate, "I got the code."

"Suppose I shouldn't be surprised," he says. "You did get rid of Kellogg, after all. Not too much of a leap to take down a Courser. How'd you manage to get it decoded?"

"I got help from the Railroad," said Nate.

"Oh God, those kooks?" asked Virgil. "I would've expected they'd be too busy to liberate vending machines, or setting computer terminals free, or...er, sorry. They just have something of a reputation. You're not the only one who's been busy. I did the best I could, from memory and things I've overheard through the years."

"What did you make?" Nate asked.

"I came up with some schematics for you," he said. "Wasn't easy; these hands are ridiculous. Fine motor skills have gone to shit. Here's the simple explanation; you need to build a device that will hijack the signal the Institute uses to teleport Coursers, and send you instead. You know the craziest part of the design? That classical music station...that's the carrier signal for the relay. All the data's on harmonic frequencies...you've been hearing it all along. I want to be clear that this isn't my area of experience. I was BioScience, not Engineering or Advanced Systems or anything. But, if you can build that device, and make use of that code, you should be able to override the signal from the Institute's relay. Can you?"

"Can I?"

"I mean, can you build it?" asked Virgil. "You have people that can help? This is a lot for one person, even you."

"Don't worry, I got help," said Nate. "By the way, I still haven't forgotten the end of our bargain."

"Good," said Virgil. "You have no idea how much I need that serum. It's my only hope for ever being...normal. Please find it if you can get in there. Now go on, take these schematics and get to work on it. You do whatever it takes; call on whoever you know to help you."

"Thank you, Virgil," said Nate. "I'll get right to it."

"Good luck," he said. "It will take a while to build."

Nate returns to the Boston Airport,
hoping to see if the Brotherhood could help him build what's on the schematics. He takes a Vertibird back up to the Prydwen and walks inside to meet with Maxson. There he stood looking down at the Commonwealth with his hands behind his back. Nate exits his Power Armor and walks up to the young Elder.

"Elder Maxson," he said, bringing up his attention.

"Knight," said Maxson. "How goes your mission?"

"I got something you're going to like," said Nate. "These schematics right here; could you take a look at them? A scientist named Virgil said they could get me inside the Institute."

"Hm...I believe you'd be better served showing these plans to Proctor Ingram," said Maxson. "That being said, I'm glad you've chosen to build the device with the Brotherhood."

"I was hoping you people would be perfect for helping me with this," said Nate. "Not only will it benefit me, but to you as well."

"Not only you?" he asked. "From the moment I've met you, you've been wanting to get your hands on the Institute. Now, indulge me for a moment by satisfying my curiosity. Tell me why you're so eager to get into the Institute."
