"We appreciate the assistance, you two," said the soldier. "But what's your business here?"

"We heard gunfire," said Nate, "then we saw you and those Ferals."

"We thought you might needed backup," grinned Alex.

"I find that hard to believe," said the soldier, "especially the way you two charged in and engaged those Ferals. Are you from a local settlement?"

"Originally Vault 111," said Nate, "but now a neighborhood called Sanctuary Hills."

"A Vault Dweller?" he asked. "Hm. Most people don't admit such a thing. I appreciate your honesty. And what about you?"

"Me?" asked Alex. "Just a wanderer from the Capital Wasteland."

"Interesting," said the soldier. "Now, if I appear suspicious, it's because our mission here has been difficult. Since the moment we've arrived in the Commonwealth, we've been constantly under fire. If you two want to continue pitching in, we could use an extra gun on our side."

Nate thinks this for a moment. The first thing that hits his mind was Shaun. He hated himself for not looking for him, but instead he goes to help someone else. However, at the same time, he doesn't want to leave anyone behind to die. The world he got himself into is much different from the old world centuries ago. Nate looks up at the soldier.

"I want to help but I don't like the secrecy," he said. "Who are you? Really?"

"What brings you here to the Commonwealth anyways?" asked Alex.

"Very well," said the soldier. "I'm Paladin Danse, Brotherhood of Steel. Over there is Scribe Haylen and Knight Rhys."

Nate looks at the front entrance of the police station to see the two. Haylen was the one female helping Danse fight off the Feral Ghouls, and Knight Rhys was the wounded warrior. Rhys wore a red colored jumpsuit-like uniform.

"To answer your question," said Danse, taking a look at Alex, "we're on recon duty, but I'm down a man and our supplies are running low. I've been trying to get a distress signal to my superiors, but the signal's too weak to reach them."

"Sir, if I may?" asked Scribe Haylen.

"Proceed, Haylen."

"I've modified the radio tower on the roof of the police station," she said, "but I'm afraid it just isn't enough. What we need is something that will boost the signal."

"Our target is ArcJet Systems," said Danse, "and it contains the technology we need...the Deep Range Transmitter. We infiltrate the facility, secure the transmitter and bring it back here. So, what do you say? You willing to lend the Brotherhood of Steel a hand?"

Alex steps up. He takes his mask off and rolls up his long sleeve, revealing a tattoo mark:

"I'm always willing to lend you a hand," he said. Danse looks at his mark amazed, then back up at Alex.

"Paladin Alex," he said. "My God...it's an honor to meet you." Nate looks at the two confused. Alex looks at Nate and grins a little.
