Three days have passed. The old neighborhood of Sanctuary Hills has begun to grow. More settlers arrived with supplies, wooden shacks are being built, much more productivity was being made.
Nate and Alex, along with Dogmeat, have been going around nearby settlements to help them with any problems in exchange for them to be alongside with the Minutemen. This helped increase the numbers of people and supplies. Preston was very pleased with them for their help in rebuilding the Minutemen.
Throughout the days, Nate and Alex had many friendly conversations with each other, mostly of which involved of knowing one another. What really helped Nate a lot was when Alex told him he knew where Diamond City was. Just southeast of Boston in Fenway Park.
Alex explains to Nate that Diamond City was an old baseball stadium, saying it's home to a baseball team named the Red Sox. Nate explains to Alex about how they've won the World Series in the years 1903, 1912, 1915, 1916, 1918, 2004, 2007, and 2013. Nate also explains how baseball is played and what the rules are.
"Sounds like a fun game," said Alex. "Other than that, Diamond City's a nice place. I've been living there for about seven years now, all alone."
"How'd you end up being alone?" Nate asked.
"It's hard to explain," said Alex. "I was with these two older girls named Casey and Suzy. Really great friends. Almost like my family. One day, Casey had to leave me and Suzy to help with the Brotherhood of Steel on some project they're working on. Three years later, and no sign of her. Suzy and I decided to go find her, until we were separated at the Glowing Sea. A huge radiation storm swept across us. Until I walked further and the storm settled....she was gone...I honestly don't know whether she's alive or not..."
"I'm so sorry," said Nate.
"Yeah, me too," he said. "I ended up in the Commonwealth and found Diamond City. I settled myself down inside a home. The mayor gave me the keys to it for a large price. So yeah, for most of my time during these seven years, I've been exploring the Commonwealth, killing anything bad I see."
"Sounds like you've made a lot of enemies," said Nate.
"And I have," said Alex. "Especially with the Gunners Preston mentioned about. Those fiends are stronger than Raiders, or those Triggermen from Vault 114. They like wearing old U.S. military clothing just to show how tough they think they are."
"They don't sound that scary to me," said Nate. "The only thing scarier than them are those Deathclaw creatures I've encountered."
"You bet," said Alex. "I faced one when I was eight. Scratched my cheek right here." He puts his fingertips on the stitches of his cheek.
"Ouch," he said. "Must of hurt."
"Yeah, but I lived," said Alex, "and that's all that matters. Getting hurt is better than getting killed."
"Good enough for me," said Nate.
After those days have gone by, Nate started packing up backpack with enough gear to go to Diamond City. Three days were long enough. After packing up, he heads outside to go see Preston.
"Hey Preston," said Nate, "I'm heading out. Call me whenever you need my help."
"Of course General," said Preston. "Good luck finding your son. I hope you find him."
