Back in the Commonwealth, Nate, Dogmeat, Alex, and Suzy head to where Skinny Malone's hideout is at. They search through the ruins of the old city of Boston.

"I've been studying the map of this region," said Suzy. "Took me a year to learn it all."

"So are we heading in the right direction?" asked Nate.

"Yup," she answered. "Just a few more blocks until we get there." Suzy loads up her assault rifle.

"All right," said Nate, "here's the plan. I'll take point when we get in. Shoot and kill anyone shooting us, rescue Nick, and we'll run like hell outta there. Stick close and watch each other's six. Got it?"

"Got it," said Suzy.

"Yes, sir," said Alex.

"WOOF!" said Dogmeat. Nate nods and pushes forward. The group passes by the dead Swan, then makes it to the Park Street station. They walk down the steps until reaching the door. Nate slowly opens it, and the group sneaks down the offline escalators. They can hear voices from the upcoming room.

"I'm telling ya," said one voice, "joining Skinny Malone's crew was the best decision we've ever made. Look at this place!"

"I still say Malone's weak," said another. "We caught that detective snooping around, and what does he do? Locks him up. Like he ain't got no balls to just kill him."

Nate looks into the room to see a few men wearing mobster-like clothing and fedoras. One of them wield a 10mm pistol, a baseball bat, and the other with a Thompson M1928 Submachine gun. Suzy hands Nate a combat knife. He takes it, then sneaks up behind one of the triggermen. He quickly covers his mouth and stabs him in the back.

Nate sets the dead man down and goes after the next man. He grabs him and pins him against the wall. He aims the knife against his throat. Alex rushes in to tackle down the third triggerman.

"Where's Valentine?" he asked.

"D-Down in the Vault!" said the triggerman. "You're not gonna make it thou-"

Nate slits his throat and throws him down on the ground. He signals the group to come over. Dogmeat, Alex, and Suzy follow. The group heads down the stairs into the subway station, filled with Triggermen. One of them spots the heroes.

"We got intruders, boys!" he yelled. Nate fires at the man's head with his Righteous Authority, blowing it off cleanly. The triggermen opened fire at the group. Suzy dashes across the subway station area, taking cover behind many pillars. She switches her assault rifle from single shot to automatic fire. Suzy runs out of cover and fires rounds at some of the triggermen, bringing them down in a pool of blood.

Dogmeat jumps on a ghoul triggerman and viciously bites his neck. Alex bashes the butt of his sniper rifle on one triggerman, then he aims quickly and fires at the last one. The group loots the dead, then they head down the shaft of the subway. They reach into another subway station with powered-out construction vehicles. Debris was piled on train tracks, pillars were broken, wooden crates and construction signs were placed near the edge of the sidewalk area. Across the metro was an open area with a large, gear-shaped door. Vault 114. Three triggermen were ready to leave to where they heard the gun fight between their allies and the group. The group ambushed them and opened fire on them. The triggermen fell dead.

Nate walks over to the Vault's control panel. He takes the cord from his Pip-Boy and attaches it to the panel. With the glass panel opening up, Nate presses the red button to open the Vault. The door slowly slides open, releasing smoke fumes and a loud screech. A metal bridge extends towards Nate and the group, connecting to the platform they're standing on with the platform in the Vault.
