"(Y/N), thank you for coming." Simba said, with a hoarse voice. You nodded, "Your highness, what happened?"
Nala spoke up, "(Y/N), we were no match for Kion's roar." You suddenly felt really guilty looking at the injured animals in front of you.
"Your Highness, I apologize, this is all my fault. I shouldn't have hurt Kion." You said regretfully.
"(Y/N), don't blame yourself, it's not your fault." Nala consoled. "I can't help but feel responsible." You admitted.
"The only one responsible is Scar! He's the one influencing our poor son!" She fumed and you felt sorry for her. Her own son almost killed her husband.
"We'll set things straight." You promised, "Well then you better do it quick, the Pride Lands are counting on you (Y/N)" Ono said.
You nodded, "We need a plan and I think I have an idea."
~~~~~
Kion stepped out of his den, feeling refreshed, for the first time in days, his head is a little lighter.
He extracted his claws and struck the hard rock of the den, dragging them down, sharpening them. The shrill scared a few birds and the soared into the dark sky, releasing ear-piercing crows.
Kion jogged in place, getting his heart rate up before he roared, loud and confidently, pouncing off Pride Rock and running through naked trees, looking for prey.
He ran and ran and ran, his vision sharp, his teeth even sharper. His claws cut through any creepers and thorns and the dry land gave him an easy surface to run on.
Kion chased the hare past the zebra's grazing spot; now deserted, the water hole; now dry. Kion picked up his pace, intent on scarfing down his prey.
With a final pounce, he had his breakfast.
~~~~~
"Everyone, you can go and hide. Far away from Pride Rock." You announced, "(Y/N) are you crazy?! He'll kill you!" Ono squawked.
"Ono, thank you for bringing me here, but this was my mess and I'm responsible for it. He won't kill me, I trust him." You said.
"He did it before, he won't hesitate to do it again. He's not who you remember (Y/N), keep that in mind." You leaned down and gave him a slight head-butt.
"I'll be fine, I promise, I won't die." By now, all the other animals had already left, "You better not break that promise, (Y/N), we all need you. Be Safe." Ono said as he flapped away, hiding in a hollow tree.
You heard Kion coming back from his hunt and quickly ran back to the hideout. He jogged inside, not as quick as before but still fast and snarled. Someone had been in here.
The den was dug out, making it go deeper than before and revealing the passage to the hideout. He growled, going in slowly, anticipating an ambush, but instead he found paintings, lots of them.
Some of his greatest moments were captured in vibrant color, he almost smiled, almost.
He went deeper and found painting where you were there, he went all the way to the end of the tunnel, tears and emotions over whelming him.
"Kion!" You called from behind him and he turned swiftly. "(Y/N)! You're alive!" He shook his head, "I knew this was a trap."
"It isn't a trap." You called out. "Sure it isn't." He snapped.
"Kion, I promise, it isn't a trap. Look at this, does it really look like a trap?" Your question remained unanswered and he turned his back.
"Kion, I wanted you to see this, our story. Please try and remember it, please, because I can't live without you." Your eyes followed Kion's figure as he paced around the cave.
"You clearly took a long time in figuring that out." He snarled, "That's not the point, the point is that we've always been there for each other, and we can't let each other go." You reasoned.
"Where were you then when I really needed you?!" He spoke again, softer, "Beshte and Fuli died while you were gone. The river flooded, Fuli drowned and a giant oak crushed Beshte. That was was the moment I really needed you." His voice cracked.
You looked at him in shock, you didn't know they had passed. "Oh, Kion, I'm so sorry, but think about it, this isn't what they would want you to do."
He turned, tears streaming down his cheeks, "I needed you (Y/N)! I needed you so much! I was so lonely without you. My heart felt so empty! I couldn't take it!" He sobbed. Your heart broke, you walked closer to him and nuzzled your head in the crook of his neck. He stiffened but then relaxed.
"I missed you so much." He whispered, pulling you closer. "I missed you too, I'm sorry it took me so long to realize it." You breathed.
You spent the next few minutes just filling up the empty space in your hearts and embracing each other. Your eyes fluttered open slowly, "Kion, we need to fix this."
